I didn't watch the clip. I will say though, its probably not a good idea to go around bashing minorities with a Glenn Beck avatar. People could get the wrong idea.

That was good for a laugh Trampled.:mj07:

Even though I'm on the other side of the fence of the Glenn Beck crowd ( though I do love a GB meltdown followed by a good cry), I agree with Pro in principle.

First off the punk would not follow the cops orders. Never a great idea. IF TRUE that he had his arms around the cops feet, the cop had the right to use SOME force. I have to believe that this was true because the cop had to know that there were kids in the car and observing the entire affair. It is quite obvious that he over did it and will be paying a large price for it. I would recommend a 3 month unpaid suspension ( Prob about 15K), psychological evaluation and anger management therapy. Upon return, he should be on a tight leash and should a similar event occur he should be terminated at once.

Yes I see a police officer that used some excessive force but it certainly does not influence my opinion of law enforcement officers in general. For those who hate "pigs". You let a tiny, tiny % of all police to cloud your very closed mind. I sincerely hope you need a police officer yourself someday.

If the guy did not let go after being struck 7 times then I would say the officer will be back to work soon. I would assume he was in the right.

Well, In the past I used the local police dept. for security and observed more that two dozen at work. I have also regularly golfed with five police officers, who are my personal friends, in a group of two foursomes. I did a ride along with two of them a few years back and found them all to be intelligent, compassionate and only as stern and forceful as the situation called for. While I suppose a case could be made that they were on their best behavior because they were being observed or in public I don't believe it true.

Perhaps we have had different experiences but I just feel it is certainly not fair to label all members of any specific group as one. I'll just assume that we agree to disagree.

I believe there are far more pigs than real police officers.......if you know what I mean.

Saying that a few apples spoiling the barrel, I feel is, is incorrect as there are a lot of bad apples......just sayin'.

Ries has previously been named in two lawsuits accusing him of excessive force.

A 2008 federal suit alleged that Ries assaulted two men with his police baton and pepper spray while he was working off-duty at the Big Bang piano bar on Laclede's Landing in April 2006. Al Johnson, a Clayton attorney for the plaintiffs, said his clients were initially charged with assault but the charges were later dropped. The lawsuit was settled out of court, and Johnson said he was barred from disclosing the amount.

"I'm glad he got caught this time, maybe enough to where the police department can fire him," Johnson said of Ries.

A 2005 civil suit in St. Louis alleged that Ries struck a man on the head with his baton and sprayed him with pepper spray in an on-duty traffic stop on North Grand Boulevard in September 2004. Records show that case was dismissed; it was unclear Tuesday whether a settlement was reached. The video is posted on STLtoday.com. It had been on YouTube, which removed it Tuesday, saying it violated the site's standards for 'shocking and disgusting content." YouTube later restored the video for registered users who say they are at least 18. A YouTube spokeswoman said the website did not comment on specific videos. Van Ross, the city police spokeswoman, said the department had not asked YouTube to remove the video.

Platke, 49, the owner of the Shell station on Arsenal Street, claimed the man seen being hit by Ries was being disruptive that night and was struggling with the officer.

Platke said he was not at the station that night but had spoken to two employees and had viewed security camera footage. He later provided footage to the Post-Dispatch, but it was grainy and the view of the altercation was largely obstructed.

"The guy was plainly drunk," Platke said. "Inebriated." He said the man's friends got him outside but he continued to cause problems, struggling with his friends. That's when Ries intervened, according to Platke.

"The officer grabbed him and tried to get him to come out of the car. The guy fell onto his chest and locked his arms around this officer's ankles and would not let go," Platke said. Ries "was there with his feet locked together, screaming at this guy to let go. He used his baton to try to hit him to get him to let go. He finally had to use (pepper spray) and the guy finally let go."

Blaine Thompson, 21, of south St. Louis County, said he was the designated driver for the man who was beaten and two friends. He would not identify his friends but said they were cooperating with the police investigation.

If you are Hanging on to a Cops legs & putting the Cop at a Disadvantage You Are Going to Get Your Ass BEAT.....
It's obvious why His Friends didn't intervene because they saw their Pal being a Dumbass..

Maybe the other times this offeicer ABUSED his power he was "in the right also" Looks to me like this guy just is abusive...lets see the story says DUDE WAS DRUNK..HARMFUL oh my...but had a designated driver...so would one think a drunk man not driving isnt to be pulled out the car..I thought dring routine stops only the driver was resposible for producing ID:shrug: since they were in the wrong(if so) sorry...THIS particular guy seems like a fucking scum...its ashame the one or two good cops we run into in our lifetimes get the bad rap from the barrrel of bad apples:popcorn2

and the pattern seems to be...every three years go beat someone down enough to bring charges...but Im no private eye:facepalm:

One of the guys who comes to the Packer Bar is a day shift officer. I asked him how many speeding tickets he gives out in a day and he said, "ZERO." I said I figured cause I have been driving fast and he never pulled me over. He said the last thing people need is a $160 ticket when all they are doing is trying to get to work. Everyone's lives are so hectic with kids and things he just doesn't want to pull you over.. He said that he had enough years in so the force can fuck their quotas. Now what a guy.

He always gives me shit for wearing the purple.
