Sometimes getting bets in early can really bite you in the ass. Last week I bet USA. At -7.5. Not even knowing that Reed wasn't expected to play. Well, things changed and now the line is around 4. Oh well. Still debating whether or not to add more. I probably will.
USA is a pretty solid football team. The went to UCLA early this season and it took a last-play fg for the Bruins to win. Sure, UCLA probably wasn't seriously focused on that game. But still, it was an impressive performance from the Jaguars. UCLA led the country, averaging 6.08 yards/carry this year. Against USA, they ran for 144 on 37 carries, an average of 3.9 yards/carry. I'm going to be lazy and not verify this, but i'd bet that was a season-low for the Bruins. USA ended the season giving up 3.08 yards/carry, 8th in the country.
I've been very unimpressed with WKU this year. While their first 3 losses were close, their last 2 were absolute blowouts, to UNT (40-13) and Auburn (41-17). I watched a lot of the Auburn game, and WKU simply wasn't good. Their best win was UAB, and that was the game the UAB QB was knocked out of, after starting 2-2 for 63 yards and a TD.
Huge advantage in the kicking game. The USA kicker made 17 of 18 fgs. The WKU kicker was 15 of 21, including only 5 of 7 from inside 30.
USA was 18th in the country in TOP, holding the ball over 32 minutes per game. I think that's going to be a key, as they keep the WKU offense off the field.
Also big motivational edge, as USA is looking for their first bowl win, while WKU is led by a qb that was abandoning them just a couple weeks ago.
