Did the committee get the 12 teams right? NO! Should Notre Dame have gotten in over Alabama? No! Should have BYU gotten in over Miami? YES. Did anyone else get left out? No.

Why Notre Dame should have been left out, they lost their first 2 games, both teams they lost to finished 21-3 overall, Notre Dame won 10 straight afterwards beating Navy, USC, Pitt and N C State all of whom finished with at least 7 wins, only USC was ranked as of today. They're combined season record was 76-68.

Miami finished 10-2, lost to SMU and L'ville, both teams not even ranked as of today, Miami went 75-69, didn't even make it to the ACC Championship, so they should have not have gotten in, but they did beat Notre Dame in week 1 and beat a hot USF team who had beaten Florida the week before, that was it for USF as far as big wins. Only one team finished as of today in the Top 25 rankings.

Alabama finished 10-3, they were 79-66 overall, but played Georgia twice, beat Georgia at Athens and got ass whooped in the SEC Championship, Alabama played 3 teams which finished in the Top 15, so shut up Notre Dame and even Miami backers, neither of you should have even been considered for the Top 12 for the CFP anyways, BYU should have have, BYU lost in the Big 12 Conference Championship and their only other loss was to the same team in which they lost to, BYU's overall record was 11-2, BYU's overall record of their opponents was however not as good as Notre Dame or Miami or Alabama's, as they played an cupcake opener vs Portland St who finished 1-11 on the season. Miami played Bethune Cookman which finished 6-6 in the HBCU and Bama played Eastern Illini which finished at 3-9 in their Ohio Valley FCS conference.

So in all that's fair, BYU & Bama should be in, they played 2 teams which finished in the Top 4 in the CFP and AP rankings, Notre Dame & Miami did not play anyone which finished in the Top 4 final standings.

funny thing is, the ncaa just continues to fuck themselves. there were times in the past when "group of 5" teams absolutely deserved a shot against the big boys. boise st was a classic example for many years. they were always very physical and wouldn't have backed down from anybody. however, the top conferences would never give those teams a chance.

now, thanks to the transfer portal, it is almost impossible for the "group of 5" schools to have a chance against the big boys. and somehow now we have a system where at least one (and, inexplicably, two this year) "group of 5" team will be in the playoff. and we have two huge underdogs in the first round. i absolutely respect what tulane and JMU have done the last few years. but they have no business being in the final 12 teams.

take those two out and the last three spots should be some combination of BYU, Miami, ND, Texas, and Vandy.

anybody who doesn't think alabama is one of the top 12 teams is delusional. i get it, you hate them because they've been so successful. but stop with the bullshit "they're a 3-loss team." they lost in the SEC championship. to a team they already beat. tell me how many teams were going to go into Athens this year and never trail against georgia. teams should NOT be punished for making their conference championship game. i don't care if they lost by 50. some day this will change, but as of now, any team that reaches the SEC championship game is EASILY one of the top 12 teams in the country.

the debate between those other 5 would be interesting. hell, looking at it... i'd even debate if oregon should be there.

BYU - only losses were both on the road (the conf. champ. was basically a road game) against the 4th best team in the country. that said, their best win is at home over a solid Utah team.

Miami - meh. you can't even make the ACC championship game? that said, i'm pretty sure they're going to beat A&M.

ND - i can forgive those losses, as their freshman qb was making his first 2 career starts and both games were very close. but, as many have noted, the rest of their schedule was... meh.

Texas - really struggled on the road, needing OT at Kentucky and Mississippi St.

Vandy - I really want to like this team. gotta love pavia. i feel like if they made the playoff, he could have done something similar to skattebo last year. different position, obviously. but i think he just would have WILLED his team to a win or two. and at least they beat a ranked team on the road. but they lost at texas. and, if i recall correctly, that game was nowhere near as close as the final score indicates.

Oregon - shit, their best win was... 18-16 at iowa?

if it was up to me, and we wanted the 12 best teams... i think i'd also take Oregon out and let in BYU, ND, Vandy, and Texas. with the biggest debate being between oregon and BYU.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Notre Dame should be in the playoffs (over who? Miami?)......They were the most dominating team in CFB that isn't named Indiana that I've seen all year. Yes, they lost the first 2 games of the season (by a total of 4 points) with a freshman QB and then ripped off 10-straight wins in convincing fashion. Is there any doubt the the Irish would beat Miami next week? They certainly would be favored at a neutral site. anyways JMO........

In fact, I was at the first game of the season in Miami when the Hurricanes legitimately beat the Irish. It was an electric environment and the Canes matched it with extreme physicality and toughness. There’s no denying that head to head. And a solid argument exists for Bama over ND also.

But claiming this year’s BYU deserved a spot over Notre Dame ignores the eye test. Imagine the betting line for ND at Oklahoma: likely very competitive. For BYU in that spot? Would BYU have been favored over anyone in the field besides Tulane or JMU? Or less than a 6-7+ point underdog against the rest?

I doubt it. ND would likely be a solid favorite over BYU, even in Provo, in a real playoff matchup—not some exhibition Pop Tarts game, a legitimate playoff game. Just my thoughts.

I agree with your points, however, the only way the CFP set this whole 12 team CFP up, it has the other 2 conferences represented. What the committee should have set up was 11-12 play each other and with that set up, ND or BYU gets in. It wasn't put into print or verbal to come out that way. But head to heads and where teams ranked in the beginning to end of the year, weighed on the committee beer still drinkers with a couple of whiskey shot drinkers on the side!!

The system can be fixed and I'm not opposed to how they did for 2025-26 btw but it can be improved. Also don't forget a chairman stepped down and out during this process!! That system is FOCKED TBH!!
