1 Exacta box 2, 5, 9, 13, 14, 16, 18, 21

Along with another Steve, here’s my 8 horse, 1 dollar exacta box bet in the derby.

May play a few .10 cent superfecta boxes with various combos of the above horses, but this is what’s in as of right now.
If you had to put one on top who would it be ?

well, if baeza didn't have to check up in the stretch, it might have been a decent exacta. oh well. had the 18 in the oaks/derby double, so not a total loss. but definitely still a loss.

on the bright side, i'm still a little buzzed from all the mint juleps. and completely ready to pass out. can't wait to see if tomorrow brings my first hangover in a while.

I had 8 across on the 18, did this late. BJ just finished, lost 5 bucks. Agree with Smitty 21 was coming hard. 2 weeks from now, Preakness.

Plus STARS WIN

I’m new to horses, all these horses have to be top 8? And 1$ equates to 42$ to win a ton?

No but of those 8 horses two of them have to finish 1-2

So if it finishes 3-7, 9-13, 21-7, etc, etc you win

I think the finish was 18-8 so he would have won

been spending less and less time on the horses recently, and continuing that this weekend. have spent almost no time on the derby, but i'm looking to beat the fav (journalism). playing some combo of the 2, 5, 12, 18, and 21. maybe another one or two underneath, if i get crazy.

looking forward to lots of mint juleps. even made mint julep ice cream, which i've been doing 10-12 years now.

good luck with your plays, and enjoy the chaos of 19 horses sharing the track.
I hope you enjoyed your party, I hope you won, and I really hope you served your mint juleps in pewter cup! I used to love them.

Nope. Back in my college days we drank almost exclusively Old Grand Dad but I got away from it. Then I became a beer guy for many years and in my old age became a vodka guy. Never really been one for mixed drinks, usually drink straight up. Even just right out of the bottle. But I've calmed down quite a bit in the last few years. I don't drink hardly at all anymore.

Enjoy.
Good boy!

thanks, rock! it was fun as always. if the 21 didn't have trouble in the stretch, i would have made a profit. but that's how it goes. in addition to the double, i forgot a threw a few bucks WPS on the 18 and the 21, so got a little back there as well. still dropped $100 - $150 on the day. i've had worse. :)

funny you should ask. 2 or 3 years ago, my GF actually got me 2 silver juleps cups. now, i knew absolutely nothing about maintaining silver but, of course, it gets tarnished. so each year when they get pulled out, they need to be polished. luckily for me, she does the honors. doesn't quite seem worth the effort to me, but it's still kinda cool.

did you enjoy the race?

I didn't watch it. I've been an NFL off-season slug.... dealing with a shrinking small business, its becoming harder to manage these days. Glad you enjoyed!

shit, man, sorry to hear that. what business are you in? you said you used to run a bar, right?
Thank my brother. Sold out of the restaurant bar business years ago. Was a big business but my partner wasn't ethical. I have a tshirt company, wholesale to the travel industry destinations. Been tough for two years now, the inflation caused from pandemic has taken hold. Travel and spending by travelers is down. Hanging in there though. Hope you are doing well Smitty!
