Between Green Bay and Iowa City
I have been making golf wagers on outright markets and posting those plays on a more or less weekly basis since 2001, and it seems fairly certain The Players Championship has been my most profitable event by a wide margin.

2026 lands 1st and 2nd place wagers on Cameron Young(35/1) e.w. and Matt Fitzpatrick(33/1) e.w. . . . 2025 featured Tom Hoge(T3) at 150/1 e.w. before the tournament, then added Sunday plays on Hoge of 600/1 e.w., and 18/1 Top Ten before a stellar round of 66 . . . 2024 featured Tom Hoge(T3) again at 66/1 e.w., and Lucas Glover(T3) at 150/1 e.w. . . . 2003 is still the largest outright wager of my life, taking Davis Love on Sunday to Win (8/1 or 6/1) before a still historic and often recalled round of 64 in blustery and cool conditions to win by 6 shots. . . 2004 I was on winner Adam Scott(either 33/1 or 28/1) e.w. . . . 2006 I was on champion Stephen Ames (either 175/1 or 150/1) e.w. on the same day as I hit with Jean van de Velde(100/1) e.w. winning in Europe . . . I’m still bummed about losing one of the 10 or 15 strongest outright golf wagers of my life in 2011 on David Toms (either 66/1 or 80/1) e.w., up by 3 shots with 11 holes to play before losing in a playoff to K.J. Choi . . . and a handful of other e.w. wagers that landed in the Top 5 . . . my most profitable event.
