13 games on the schedule!

1 game to check for re: "Going against a home team coming back from a road trip of 4 or more games and playing the first game back with 1 or nil days rest", thrend brought about by IE2002 thanks to british bulldog.

Atlanta @ Los Angeles (4pm ET start)

Early play...

NY Rangers -.5 (-150)
The Rangers are on a mission. Whether they will make it or not, they are playing good hockey right now thanks to the return of Bure but especially Leetch. I don't see why they shouldn't continue on their tear. If you look at the team at the beginning of the season, lots of people predicted them to be in contention for the 4th spot in the East. Well they are the same team as they were at the beginning of the season... NOT... they added Kovalev and Dunham, which in my mind cannot hurt them and makes them better.

The Panthers on the other hand are a team that is always dangerous. Every once in a while, Luongo steals one and the young guys are battlers. Keenan really puchses them to their full potential and they are developing well as a team. But right now it's playoff contention time and the Rangers will be hungrier.

Other teams that look good... Boston , Nashville, NY Islanders, Columbus... Will look more closely at these games after the around noon ET.

Good luck to everyone today! :D

Calgary is 0-2-3 on their first game back from a "3 games or more road trip" this season.

San Jose beat the Canucks and look hot for the first time of the season. The Sharks might be an interesting play as well.

Other note: Los Angeles is 2-0-0 coming back from a "5 games or more road trip" this season.

Atlanta is a great live dog , especially like the afternoon matchup, after L.A.'s east coast trip, less then a full days rest when you think about it.

boston
be careful with boston...as a home dog they look tempting....but philly is playing great hockey right now ..and paper says gagne likely in lineup ..which may help thier power play (if he is on it) ...which by the way has woken up a bit as they have scored a PP goal in 4 straight games...take a look at the shots on net boston has allowed over thier last 3 or 4 games its not good...thier goaltending is up and down ...mostly down but shields has played admirably i wouldnt be surprised to see him in net today...and if philly gets up by a goal they are not the easiest team to come back on...i was surprised philly was favored in this game as they usualy come her even on the puck line

good luck cooz

You're absolutely right LtRon! I guess things happen for a reason! I'm not sure if I was going to play Boston and Nashville but I surely had a good feeling about them! Nashville ended winning in OT though....

Addition...

Columbus (-110)
The Blue Jackets renewd with a win against a LA, a team that is desperate for points in order to make the playoffs. When Denis is on his game, the Jackets always are in the hunt for a win. Columbus is also a great home team but a really bad road team.

But the main reason I am taking the Blue Jackets is because of the Oilers. Since Jason Smith's injury the Oilers are not the same team. They are 0-5-1-2 without him. Now Mike York is out for a while which is definitely not a good thing since Comrie, although he is back, is still bothered by his thumb injury. But the Oilers always manage to stay in every game they play no matter what...

I really like Nashville's efforts simce the All-Star break. They started the season injured and not winning many games. In their last 10 games they are 9-1-0-0! Great work!

Was it the owner of the Preds that guaranteed the playoffs to the fans or he would reimburse, can't remember what to them?
