I am passing on the NHL today but here is what I gleaned looking at the local papers and matchups for tonight's games. Good luck.

-Nick

-Sens missed payroll but have 10 days to make it under the CBA. Dafoe and Prusek will likely start tonight. Thrashers are 2-1 since firing Fraser.

-Drama on both sides of the Blues-Blackhawks game as Mirinov now wants to come back and Pronger is looking at possibly retirement if he can?t find a specialist to fix his wrist.

-Khabibulin has a 14-1-2 record in his career against Calgary. Flames are 1-0-1 with Sutter as coach.

-Wild won a come from behind thriller last time they faced the Oilers, which ended a franchise long winless streak against Edmonton. Wild have won 2 straight and are unbeaten in their last 3.

-Roy left yesterday?s game at Nashville with flulike symptoms but more likely a sore pussy. Roy is known for being a stat fiend so with his team up 4-1 after 1 period and with Florida coming up tonight, he surely was figuring on getting some extra rest to try to add another win to his record the easy way.

-Flyers and Kings are both getting killed with injuries right now, which could lead to a high scoring game as the defensive organization may be lacking. Potvin has also been struggling and he will likely be benched starting tonight.

-Habs have scored just 6 goals in first four games of a winless road trip. Canucks have scored 22 in their last five (nice!) and let in 18 (not so nice!). Interesting juxtaposition on the total with those two tendencies.

-Stars have been awesome at home but their last road trip ended with just a 2-3-2 record. Sharks have been catching teams in bad spots but tonight Dallas should be up. In 16 days these two meet again in the same arena.

Denver Post:

Entering the dressing room, Roy began feeling sick with what he thought was the flu. He told coach Tony Granato he couldn't go on but got credit for the victory because he was in net when the game-winning goal was scored.

That helps make up for a victory he lost in the 1998-99 season, when he made every save in a victory over Anaheim but backup Craig Billington got the win because he was in net for the game-winner after Roy was pulled by former coach Bob Hartley to buy his power play more time to rest.

Roy smashed two televisions and a VCR in Hartley's office after the game to show his displeasure.

My guess is Roy plays tonight

Of course he will play tonight. No way that guy misses a chance for an easy win vs. the Panthers. I will definitely be rooting for the Panthers to beat his ass after the crap he pulled in Nashville.
