Scouting Burnett: Making his 13th start after four consecutive no-decisions. He has lost his past three decisions and hasn't won in seven starts. His last win was April 29. ... In his last outing, a 12-5 win over Texas on Friday, he became the Marlins' all-time strikeout leader (635), passing current Cubs closer Ryan Dempster. ... Lefties are hitting .200 against Burnett. ... His 80 strikeouts are seventh in the National League. ... He is 1-0 in two starts vs. the Cubs with a 3.21 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 14 innings. Both starts came at Wrigley.

Scouting Maddux: The 39-year-old veteran is 3-0 with a 3.37 ERA in his past three starts. ... He has walked two batters in his past five starts. His 1.44 walks per nine innings is eighth-best in the majors. ... He is 18-9 in 34 career starts vs. the Marlins with a 2.60 ERA. Against teams in which he has made at least 34 starts, he has a lower ERA against only two (Pittsburgh, 2.51; Washington, 2.55).

Marlins short hops: When CF Juan Pierre and C Paul Lo Duca stole bases Monday, it marked the first time since May 16 the Marlins had two steals in a game. Burnett ( last 3 games)
Last 3 games pitched well but bullpen llost it.
ER: 7
Went at least 6.0 IN
Career vs Cubs: 2 game starts, 1-0, 3.21 ERA
Away: 6 GS, 2-2, ERA 3.12
My view: Run support not there when he starts, except for last start vs Texas, Maybe continue???? who knows????

Maddux (last 3 games)
pitched well and had big leads when leavind.
ER: 7
Also went at least 6.0 IN
Career vs Fish: 34 GS, 18-9, 2.60 ERA
Home: 6 GS, 2-2, 3.51 ERA
My View: Hot bats for Cubbies facing a decent pitcher that they are not to familiar with. HMMMM?? Tough Calll???

I'll take the Cubbies as a home dog of +105 and kick "THE MAN'S" %#%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck

The numbers are all pointing to the Cubs taking this game - the only one that isn't is the fact that they are home dogs today. After starting the year off 3-0 Burnett has had multiple no decisions and also historically when the cubbies put up the numbers like they did yesterday they fall short the next game. I like the Fin's in this game fellas. BOL!

Here why I like the Cubs. Wendlested is behind the plate. The home team is 10-4 but the home dog is 4-0. In Fla games the ht is 7-3 but there's a fly in the ointment. Fla is 7-3. 5 of those wins were at home and 4 were are favs. In Cubs games the ht is 6-4 and the dog is 5-5. Here's what probably influenced me most. Burnett and Maddux are both 1-2 but there's a big difference in their numbers. The opposing team in Maddux games ave 3+ runs per game while Burnett's teams ave 7+ per game. It appears that Wendlested gives Maddux the outside of the plate which is all he needs. I also have reason to believe this game goes under which would mean Maddux is getting the outside. If I'm wrong we'll know about it by the end of the second inning.

Lost on the under 9(-25) as well. This is what happens more often than not when playing a game because its the only one on.Can't force it.Maddox whipped the Bosox in the high profile game last week, which I'm sure subconsciously influenced us.I'm too old to be this stupid.
