Sens host the Pens tonight in what should be a entertaining game as both teams possess many offensive players. Lalime goes again for the Sens in net and Hedberg for the Pens.
Havlat is out with a groin injury tonight and did not take the morning skate and call-up Brad Smyth will take his spot. Bonk is still out but with the Spezza playing they really don't miss him as Spezza has played with more desire and passion than Bonk ever has in an Ottawa uniform.
Sens coming off a tough road loss last night as they had many chances but either could not finish or Cechmanek is better than I think.
I look for the Sens to play with alot more emotion tonight in front of a home crowd. As well, typically Ottawa plays better against a team who are slow on defense and not that physical and that is exactly how to sum up the Pens defense. Here are their defensive pairings for tonight:
Tarnstrom-Moran
Laukkanenn-Pushor
Bergevin-Rozsival
Those pairings don't put any fear into the forwards when they cross the blue line. Laukkenenn has been a healthy scratch for 4 straight games but goes tonight. He was not good enough to stay with the Sens 2 years ago. When your number one defensive pairing is Tarnstrom and Moran you are going to have problems. Just ask the Leafs when it comes to defense. The Sens top line will be matched up against this so-called top defensive pairing tonight and will benefit greatly from it and to top it off the Sens have the last line change being at home so Martin will exploit this as he really likes to play certain match-ups. I look for at least a 2 goal win tonight by Ott.
