Eleven members of a $12 million mobile sports betting ring operating in the region were convicted of various felonies and await sentencing, Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro has announced.
The convictions included attempted enterprise corruption, first-degree promoting gambling and second-degree criminal usury. The betting ring operated from different locations in Westchester, the Bronx and Nassau.
The ring was dismantled after a six-month joint investigation conducted by the county district attorney's Organized Crime and Criminal Enterprise Bureau and state police. On May 4, 36 search warrants were issued resulting in the arrest of nine people and seizure of gambling records, cash, computers, cell phones, a gun and drugs.
