If you need to twist a statement to make a point, you're reaching. I never said have Iraq prove they werent involved. IMO, I think Iraq has been involved in harboring and funding terrorists. My statement of 'produce some cold hard facts that Iraq had nothing to do with it,' was a rebuttal to a statement of "Iraq was not involved."

I dont know if Iraq was somehow involved in 9/11 or not. At the same time, neither do you or Eddie. So to proclaim either way as fact is way off base. If you can't agree with that, there's not much else to say.

Ah, how lawyers love to use the language to make their points. Yes, Bush was certainly elected by a substantial minority of voters. Can you recall any other presidents also elected by a minority of voters? I'll bet you can. You come across as a very arrogant person using hit and run tactics in the threads wherein you choose to participate. Since you are the omniscient watchman of all that is politically correct at Madjack's, PLEASE....explain to the peons exactly what YOU would do if you were in "W"'s shoes? What would YOUR strategy be? How would YOU proceed? And, please, do not tell us that you do not have all the information that "W" is privey to, because your comments clearly indicate that you do possess all pertinent information on this subject.

Ya got me old man. I must admit, I do use language to make my points. How could you see through my ruse??? Lawyers who use language, what will they think of next.

Ya know pops, I learned a long time ago in life school as well as lessons taught by my dear departed mama, that the best defense is an offense. I note that you employ this strategy in your attack. Congratulations. Arrogant, huh?

You have portrayed yourself throughout your posts as the wise old sage who will teach the youngins on this board about life, love and song. Well may I be the first to suggest that you are a total phoney. You are the one that comes across with arrogance, Bif.

I can't believe I'm responding to an old burnt out surfer dude from socal. Do you know Romey?? Anyway in response to your question about what I would do if I were in W's shoes, I will quote another wise sage such as yourself who said "give peace a chance".

Its funny when the UN agrees with us we use that as authority. When they don't we say we don't care about the UN, they are an ineffective body, and we are going to do what we want to protect our country.

On 2-14-03, the independent guy at the UN, Hans Blick said no evidence of weapons of mass destruction. Therefore, we now ignore the UN. Funny how 13 years ago we wouldnt do anything without the backing of the UN. I guess now they are obsolete since they don't agree with us. Talk about arrogance!!

Bush has been trying to trump up something in order to justify THIS NATIONS FIRST PRE-EMPTIVE ATTACK ON ANOTHER COUNTRY. If Bush really believes he has such weapons, I would continue to hold a gun to his head and let the inspectors finish there work. This cowboy is gonna get a lot of people killed.

I submit the real reason the dumb one in DC is doing this is economic (oil) and military (establish bases to stabilize the region). Nothing to do with Hussein as a threat or that we are being the good guys and freeing the Iraqi people.

Got to warm up my Stuka and strafe another thread.

Hang ten, baby

Blitz we should not for get. Blazer its strange you bring up this should be showen when TV stations sign off. Same thing I once thought about Pearl Harbor. But then I thought no. Reason was to many folks haveing to see over and over again how there loved ones died. Then as timed past it didn't matter because it's hard to find any TV stations that do sign off anymore.
Eddie I dont believe the no fly zone is a UN sanction. That was a USA/England deal. Maybe your not the one that brought that up.
Anyway anyone who thinks we were not headed in this direction has not payed attetion. And do we have any proof Iraq had anything to do with 9/11? NO! Do we have any they didn't? NO!
So why now. He has not used any of his weapons on us. Go back to July when things on the hunt for Bin got real slow. The war talk started. Iraq was bad and had to change there ways. it's been building since July.
Anyway lets not for get 9/11. And lets hope some day we can say we got the folks that did carry it out. Im sure if we wish to make it look like Iraq was one of them we can. Like did we really go to the moon. Or is that all just a show and tell.

Thanks for the insults, Eddie - coming from you, who would expect anything else? Let's see - your solution to the Iraq problem -

"GIVE PEACE A CHANCE"

Now that is profound. I wonder why guys like Powell have never thought of that one. I guess that college education is kicking in. I realize that your time is sorely limited here, but I had hoped for a more precise answer than "Give peace a chance". So let me ask you - How long are you willing to wait to "give peace a chance?" One more year? 10 more years? Infinity? Just one more question.. Under what possible circumstances would you, Eddie Haskell, advocate an effort by the United States to overthrow Suddam Hussein?

Got to run, will be faxing "Give peace a chance" to White House and Congress. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Why stop there - I'll fax it to the U.N. Tony Blair should hear this kind of widosm. I may have opined on many subjects in an attempt to share my 55 years of experience with the people of Madjacks, 95%+ are younger than I am. Just look at me as a burned-out old surfer dude (I guess because I live at the beach? Non-sequiter?) that is fast approaching senility. Of course, you obviously read what I had to say - so who I guess it was just comedy relief? "Give peace a chance" - that is a classic.

Ferdie:

Here's why I don't think we should go to war and kill alot of people:

FACT: Iraq has not attacked any other country since 1990.

Assuming, he has not complied with UN and/or US/British orders to disarm, further assuming, Al Quida has links to Iraq (similar to the links that organization has to US) but not to Iraqi government, and further further assuming that he has been Stalin-like in the treatment of his own people, I do not think that is sufficent reason for the US to launch a pre-emtive military strike without UN approval.

You know this administration uses the UN when that body agrees, then ignores it when it disagrees. Is that right? Either shit or get off the pot. I believe this country loses credibility with the rest of the world when we act like this administration has to date. Do I believe there are reasons for war. Yes. Have I seen them yet in the current US/Iraq situation. No.

I trust I have been responsive to your query.

"Minority of voters" How many times do I have to post this link.
Click on election results link in article.

Eddie if you take away the special interest groups, movie stars, gays, women and Rainbow coalition all whining in unison "Its not my fault" gimme gimme gimme, there wouldn't be a handful of liberals left. You notice why they account for 99% of protest, they don'y have to go to work.

While everyone is preparing for gas, bombs ect in retaliation here in U.S. --We folks in the South are preparing quite differently. We are trying to figure out how to keep the liberals from massive migration to our area when they figure out all their "no racial profiling" has made them the optimum target of terrorist.
Irony to the MAX!!!!!!!!!

Dogs, thats the whole party. What is your point on the link? Gore won the popular vote. Bush got a substantial minority of the popular vote. What is incorrect about that?

As far as the south goes, I didn't realize there was a massive migration of liberals to Kentucky. Speaking of Kentucky, theres a story going around that a lot of Kentuckians hope that UK does not win the national championship this year because then they might have to keep Tubby. Any truth???

After weeks of attemping to register, I have at last succeeded. It was annoying enough to have to listen to Eddie H. foist his views on me in person, but when I realized he was actually putting his drivel in print, I had to take action. Thus, this is my first posting. Yes, I am Eddie's legal assistant, but don't hold that against me and don't feel sorry for me. I'm older, wiser and more intelligent than he'll ever be. Gotta go now, EH expects work product but, like, McArthur, "I shall return."

It is remarkable enough that the United States is setting out to undertake the invasion of a nation, the destruction of a regime and the liberation of a people. But to do this with only one real military ally, with much of the world against it, with a war plan that is still, by necessity, in flux days before the advent, with an invasion force that contains only one fully deployed heavy armored division--and to have, under these circumstances, the division's commander sleeping pretty good at night: Well, that is extraordinary.

A victory on these terms will change the power dynamics of the world. And there will be a victory on these terms.

Unilateralism has its advantages.

The quickest way to get all Americans to support the war is to have all ambulance chasers go to Iraq and become human shields.

Why I Left Islam
By Ali Sina

I am often asked, Why I left Islam?. As absurd as it may be, some Muslims cannot even allow themselves to think that leaving Islam is an option, or even possible. They rather think that those who leave Islam are paid Jewish agents than accept the fact that people have freedom to think and some may even think that Islam is not for them. The following are my reasons:

Until few years ago I used to think that my faith in Islam was not based on blind imitation but rather was the result of years of investigation and research. The fact that I had read a lot of books on Islam, written by people whose thoughts I approved of and delving into philosophies that were within my comfort zone, emphasized my conviction that I had found the truth. All my biased research confirmed my faith. Just like other Muslims I used to believe that to learn about anything one has to go to the source. Of course the source of Islam is the Quran and the books written by Muslim scholars. Therefore, I felt no need to look elsewhere in order to find the truth, as I was convinced that I have already found it. As Muslims say ?Talabe ilm ba?d az wossule ma?loom mazmoom?. The search of knowledge after gaining it is foolish.

Of course, this is a foolish idea. What if we want to learn the truth about one of these dangerous cults? Is it enough to depend only on what the cult leader and his deluded followers say? Wouldn?t it be prudent to widen our research and find out what other people have to say about them? Going to the source makes sense only in scientific matters, because scientists are not ?believers?. They do not say something because they have blind faith. Scientists make a critical analysis of the evidence. It is very much different from a religious approach that is based entirely on faith and belief.

I suppose it was my acquaintance with the western humanistic values that made me more sensitive and whetted my appetite for democracy, freethinking, human rights, equality, etc. It was then that when I reread the Quran I came across injunctions that were not on a par with my newfound humanistic values, I was distressed and felt very uncomfortable to read teachings like these:

Q.3:90
But those who reject Faith after they accepted it, and then go on adding to their defiance of Faith,- never will their repentance be accepted; for they are those who have gone astray.

Q.16: 106
Any one who, after accepting faith in Allah, utters Unbelief,- except under compulsion, his heart remaining firm in Faith - but such as open their breast to Unbelief, on them is Wrath from Allah, and theirs will be a dreadful Penalty.

One may think that the dreadful penalty mentioned here pertains to the next world. But Muhammad made sure that these people received their penalty in this world as well. See the following:

Sahih Bukhari Volume 6, Book 61, Number 577:

I heard the Prophet saying, "In the last days (of the world) there will appear young people with foolish thoughts and ideas. They will give good talks, but they will go out of Islam as an arrow goes out of its game, their faith will not exceed their throats. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for there will be a reward for their killers on the Day of Resurrection."

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 63, Number 260:

Ali burnt some people and this news reached Ibn 'Abbas, who said, "Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as the Prophet said, 'Don't punish (anybody) with Allah's Punishment.' No doubt, I would have killed them, for the Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' "

DTB these cults as said below. They are many with differant Ideasof cults and how formed. I some time wonder if all those who believe in god are part of a cult. And witch god is good and witch god would then be bad.

So it's just cause to go into a country, kill hundreds, thousands of innocent lives, overthrow a government, establish a government that Bush desires simply because someone *believes* that it's affecting your way of life? Please tell me how anything in Iraq affects your daily life. Does it inconvenience you in some way on your way to work? Don't bother mentioning extra security measures in airports now, that was a result of 9-11 and no one has proven that Iraq has anything to do with that.

You don't know squat about who was involved in attacking us.

Until you can produce some cold hard facts that reveal Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks on America, I suggest you take a good luck at the propaganda youre spreading.

And neither do you. And if your beloved government agencies knew, why not provide this information? If such evidence existed, I'm
sure France, China, etc would switch sides on this issue. At least they wouldnt be so outspokenly against it.

It's the USA government that wants to attack Iraq. Shouldn't we be asking them for "cold hard facts" that reveal Iraq HAD something to do with the attacks on America? If they can't
provide this, how you can even FATHOM starting a war?

Turfgrass wrote:
The United States can and will act both diplomatically and militarily as it deems necessary to protect it?s vital interests abroad and the security of its people at home.

And here is why the rest of the world hates the USA. What gives USA the right to police the rest of the globe regarding these 'interests abroad'? These interests abroad you mention are without a doubt in mind,
financial matters....oil...black gold. The whole terrorist scare is a front to gain public acceptance of what is IMO unjust cause
for starting a war. Look at all the laws that the Bush admin has passed in the last year. Look closely, alot of these laws have taken away some freedoms that you americans used to enjoy. All these laws were passed under the pretense that they were to protect the public against terrorism. Big brother is watching you...

Doesn't it seem strange that the USA is so concerned about Saddam burning his own oil fields? Wait a sec here...let's step back.
Isn't this war about lemme quote it properly..."Weapons Of Mass Destruction"?? If Saddam wants to eat all the strawberries in
Iraq, or burn the crops, or burn the oil. WTF does it matter to the USA govertment? Surely, this war couldn't be about greed. Oh no, it's all about the threat to the American public, it's all about the terrorists...yeah yeah that's the ticket...maybe the smoke from that burning oil is going to blow across the ocean and get in your eyes?

How is it remarkable when many lives will be lost. I'd like to throw you on the front line staring at the end of an AK47 and see if you still think it's "remarkable". I can just see you
sitting on your couch soaking in all the media, waving your flag cheering "GO USA GO" as countless people die. Do you watch
those nightcam scenes on CNN of missiles blanketing the Iraqi downtown and yell out, "BOMB DEM ****ERS!!!"? Hello?? People
are being killed, that wasn't a touchdown pass in the superbowl. That's not a 40yd strike for a game breaking td on 3rd and long.
That's a missile that will explode and destroy aa building, causing shards to fly and injure innocent Iraqis. I have this disturbing suspicion that you only support this war
because it's just another excuse to beat your chest and claim American dominance.

What power dynamics? The USA is already #1. A victory under such terms (outright disagreement with members of the U.N.) will just cause more hatred towards your country.

It's not the terrorists, or the communists of this world that I fear. It's the USA govt I fear the most. With the terrorists and the commies, they are upfront in what they are doing, their agendas are well known. You can't say the same with the government agencies of the USA.

Turfgrass Im to old to go to jail. I better not start doing anything to anyone. I was not to smart when younger as just about anyone under 22/23 can be. I grew and changed my ways. Now I just say thanks. But if put in corner I can be darn right chitty. I just try very hard not to do things to piss anyone off. But be in any cult noway. Unless believing in God makes me a cult member.
I forgot about that remark above about oil. This cant be about oil. First off, it would not look right to the rest of the world.
Second, we can get more oil from Alaska. It is said that we can get 7 to 10 billion barrels of oil there. It is said since Iraq only has between110 to 125 billion barrels left under it. How can that small differance make this anything to do about oil.

Do me a favor and do your homework before responding to anything I've said. I made it clear that I dont know either. Anything I've responded to in this thread, I've made known it was my opinion and not fact. This post was almost not worth my time to respond, but I really think you need to pay closer attention to what's been said before you rattle off a response.
