Stevie My reason for agreeing with war on Iraq and Afgan is solely to combat terrorism on their turf. Plain and simple.
I think it is a very tough road especially in light of, however any country fighting terrorism are at distinct disadvantage because they have to follow rules and terrorists have no rules. If I could add my 2 cents for solution over there it would be to take money from frozen terrorists accounts and form elite outfit of men with mid-east decent in the form of mercenary unit, for lack of better word, who have no direct ties to any country. This would enable them to fight terrorist on their own terms with no hands tied and their actions could not be blamed on the west by rest of the middle east countries or world.

Auspice Politics is a very volitlie subject and I am sure Jack has always cringed when he sees topics on it,because most places political and religion threads don't last long. To the people's here credit we have been able to carry on these discussions and debates and at times with intensity, but always in debateable and civil format,--until now. I will not turn Jacks place into a rag tag name calling arena and from logical standpoint I know a person can not change the nature of people, and your nature is quite evident, therefore the only viable solution I can see is for me to refraim from debating with those I have in these politcal threads since they cause you such intense uncontolable emotions and let you live in your Al Fraken world.
I will miss debating with this crew as i have learned a lot from there views but I do not see any other solution.

You got called out for an obvious lie. Everybody had privy to it. Everybody could see it. I'd hide in my closet for years if I lied like that. Hope you do the same.

Stevie--I agree with you. That's the beauty of our society that we can express our opinions on every issue. But to nitpick everything that happens in this post-war scenario, in my opinion, is wrong. As much as we would like to think, we (as the general public) don't know as much about this as our elected leaders. I felt this way when Clinton was in office as well. I may not have agreed with what was going on and expressed my opinion about it, but after my opinion was stated I would leave it alone.

auspice--get off your ego trip. when someone says something tongue in cheek about a publication it is not a lie. DTB may have made an incorrect statement, but you have completely lost it.

Other than that, I usually learn quite a bit in these threads, but I am pretty open minded to both sides. I understand how people could feel both ways.

Dawgball,

Have to disagree with your comment that people who bash or disagree with our current leaders are in turn not supporting our troops. Actually, I think you have it twisted around those that have followed our leaders blindly into a battle that had not been planned out well by the bush administration with no exit strategy are the ones whom are not supporting the troops. Our troops deserve better than to be put into a hostile environment with no clear cut plan on what we are going to do, these guys are sitting targets thats what I call lack of support.

Sorry all but I?ve been having a hell of a time w/my ISP. I always look forward to learning from these posts, but this one has gone way too far-IMHO. Ya know its too bad when some take their posts to a level that includes such personal attacks. Auspice, you are acting like a spoiled kid w/a temper tantrum. Me, I like to respond in kind, i.e., you wanna be nice, we?ll be nice, you wanna act like an assh*le, you?ll be treated like an assh*le.
I can only suspect from this and other posts of yours that you are as intolerant as you are rude. Good job as you have pissed quite a few ppl off. If these are your true feelings on real world topics then I can only conclude that you are either an angry 12 year old or an immature individual. Al Franken- good role model for you.
I don?t agree w/a lot that is posted here, but I still look forward to posts by djv, StevieD, Eddie H., and a whole lot others. For the record I like DTB and hope he continues to post. There are 4 rooms left@ Sunset Station so why don?t you grab one. Then you can kick my ass and tell me about Al Franken@ the same time
* aside to the Softball Team- Don?t worry girls, he can get in line after you* Only condition I have is that you bring StevieD. At least we can disagree and have a good time about it. (Love to buy you a brew Stevie).
We don?t have to start attacking ppl that have an opposing view. Everyone here has had disagreements, but we don?t start using profanity or become too personal. DTB has a right to his opinions just as you do. If you don?t like a post that is your problem. Don?t make it everyone?s problem.

:iagree: Keep it calm. Agree not to Agree. Even try to have some fun with a real tough subject. But like by grandpa would say. Laughter can help the pain. There are many days I truley believe we make more sence here then some of our elected officials. But keep in mind none of us are beholding to any contributers to our re-election. Easy for us to say what we do at times. So I cant blame some of those elected officials because they want there jobs back. So the party line is a must. But as history teaches us that is not always the right ending. The final book and history on this year in Iraq will come down the road. Could be in a year. But 10 is more like it. Sometimes it just takes that long for it all to make sence one way or the other. In the mean time?

Well said Chanman

When it comes to politics and religion you are not going to change peoples mind. It is fun to debate what is going on but the name calling is just not necessary.

Aupice After reviewing all your post at Madjacks beginning with the 1st--

"to Ronbets:
You're the sharpest guy in all the forums..... no question about it"

--I have reconsidered the issue of not posting on political issues
as in time one who debates in your mannerism will be gone in short order anyway.

1st lets take issue with your statement.

"I'd hide in my closet for years if I lied like that. Hope you do the same."

Bout everyone here knows my real name address and contact #'s.
If you don't my name is Wayne Hoehn, type it into search engine and you will find any data you wish. Also I have email link in home page provided in profile. (your proflie was interesting)

Now I assume since "hiding" is a big issue with you, and you have no objection or nothing to hide that you will produce the same info here.
Right?
I certainly hope that with all your bold statements that you don't turn out to be one of those that want "to hide" behind keyboard?
I would be disappointed. ;)

MC--I don't think there is a problem with disagreeing with our leaders. If you do your best move is to prove it in elections and such. I, for one, think that our leaders have our best interests in mind. If you don't agree with that, then we disagree.

I know for a fact that we are doing good things over there. The kids that are in our armed forces are there voluntarily and have CHOSEN to serve our country. That means going to battle when our leaders make the call.

Just remember, every piece of news is written by a human being. That means it has to be skewed with opinion. People can bring up death tolls; someone else can bring up how many people are living because Saddam is gone. It's an on-going debate.

I do believe that the best way we can support our troops and get them home safely is to rally behind our leadership (and soldiers) with everything we have (regardless of party) and get this job done. Do I know what it is going to take? Nope. But it's not my job or anyone on this board to know those things. That is why we have elected officials, and generals, and advisors, etc.

I lost a friend in one of the suicide bombings, but I know he was more than happy to give his life for his country. If he had to do it again, he would have been standing in the same place he was when that woman ignited her bomb. It was his job and duty, and he was proud that it was. And I am proud that we have individuals that are that selfless to do that for me and my family/friends.

I also enjoy posts by everybody and I would love to have a brewski with most all of you and talk politics and check out the ladies, at least that is something we can agree on.
Dawgball I am so sorry that you lost a friend to one of those insane suicide bombers. But I do not understand how even if we won the war in Iraq, and I still do not know exactly what that means, how that helps or even slows down the terrorists. Yes, there are terrosist pouring into Iraq from other countries. And what makes anybody think that they will stop pouring in there after Iraq elects a democratic government. Why would they be any more free of terrorism than Isreal is? Also I do not see it as an expensive operation for a terrorist to blow up a commuter train or subway or bridge or anything else that would put the fear of God back into us. The War in Iraq is a detour to the War on Terror. Saddam was terrible and many of us questioned why we supported him for years. Now we hear from the same people that supported him how awful he was. That just doesn't make sense to me.
