I see a ton of people on the net betting 1st halves... I'm trying to understand how one decides to bet the first half rather than the game.... There are certain situations where a backdoor cover can come into play with the game line, but what about playing underdogs in the first half? What pushes a person to bet +2.5 first half rather than +5 for game...? Maybe it's just me, but I don't see first half statistics as being a consistent resource.. Is it the "quick cash" idea of it all... Does anyone have a strategy for betting 1st halves? Any info would be more than welcome..

Thanks.

I do not bet halves either. Not to say that others don't have logic in it, I just have a hard time figuring how to do it. In football, it seems that if you have a wager on the 1st half, suddenly the coin toss becomes a big part of it all for you. It means the difference in a possesion, and I just can't force myself to have to rely on a coin toss to help me with my wager.
Good question Storm, I am curious to see reply's on this one.

I have thought about this quite a bit for college hoops. I think for dogs for the game between 1 and 8 pts, it might be a good idea to play a 1h line for at least a portion if you like the team. How many times do you pick a competitive dog and watch them whimper out the door at the end with fouling and a fold down the stretch. I will probably start doing some research on this.

because some teams tend to play better in the first half then others...some are strong in first halves and fade in the second...sometimes i like betting the dog in the first half because they come out strong and then in the second half the home team takes over...much like the wake/maryland game

Look at kentucky they sprint out of the gate and take control in the first half only to sit on the advantage they have and watch it all crumble away !

First halves are a good way to bet a good team without the backdoor cover or sometimes coaches will rest key players

works better in football becuase of the nature of the game but it works in hoops as well

good value most times ! ist half betting takes away lot's of the fluke stuff that happens
