Kansas -5 (TAMU), 220/200
------ I'm sick of capping with the relatively meager amount of money I have in my account... so I'm going to push almost all of it in on this one (with a super bowl prop)...

I like KU a lot in this one. A&M, in my opinion, is an overrated team. I made a comment in one of these threads in the preseason... where someone, i think it was that Don Wallace guy, was talking about how A&M was so underrated, and everyone was agreeing with him... and I see the same thing now... everyone talks about how underrated this team is... and it just isnt true. They have a couple nice players, they play good defense, and they are coached well. Will that translate into a sweet 16 appearance, maybe even an elite 8? Yeah, probably. But they simply arent a contender for the national championship.

That said... Here are my reasons for this play:
1. Gameday is in Lawrence. Kids take a lot of pride in being 'the best fans in sports' or whatever the hell. i take issue with that... because i think if 'we' were such good fans, the football team would sellout regardless of how good they are, but i digress. The Fieldhouse is going to ABSOLUTELY ROCKING tonight. I'm going, and i think i will have a migraine by the time i head out to drink tonight... its gonna be sick... earlier on Gameday, a couple hours ago, Allenfieldhouse was already a fourth full.... almost 12 hours before tipoff. A&M better be ready to face the most hostile environment they will see all season.

2. Everyone talks about A&M's defense... but KU is a tremendous D team as well. I think KU is comparable in that department. A&M plays at a different tempo, and that is why their stats look better.

3. KU can win this game in several ways. A&M needs several things to break for them to win.
KU can play the slow-down game that A&M prefers, and get the ball inside, and hit jump shots. My guess is they will want to run and let their athletes overwhelm the Aggies. If they turn this into a trackmeet... KU will win big.

4. KU is very good in games when the nation is paying attention. Their losses this season? Oral Roberts, Depaul, TT. Games they just didnt care to play in (which I have an issue with, of course). They show up for games they know they have to. Florida is a good example. Boston College is another.

5. KU has been very good against TAMU the last couple seasons. I dont care much for historical stats, but this bears repeating. This TAMU team may be a bit better, but it doesnt have Wright.

6. This game reminds me a lot of the KU-UT game last season. KU was rolling and looking awesome and unbeatable. The line came out around -5 ((think it might have been closer to -6), a bunch of people jumped on KU... and UT absolutely dropped the hammer on them. TAMU obliviously isnt the young team that KU was, so im not calling for a game like that... but i think the mindsets are similar.

It is tough to put money on the pysche of the KU team, because they show up when they feel like it... I am positive they will be ready tonight, though.
If TAMU slows the game down and hits perimeter shots and makes it a great game that comes down to the wire, so be it.

GL guys.

I think KU will handle business tonight as well jayhawk

I am about as jealous as jealous can get that you get to go to that game. Live it up man. Anyways I really see an advantage at the bigs position when TAMU plays others, they are just a very slow dominant team that can wear you down. But I honestly feel that KU has the best frontcourt in the nation. So there goes that advantage! When KU shows up to play they are the best team in the nation IMO. I think Fla is a close second, but we all saw what happned when both teams showed up to play earlier this year.

A & m 2 of their 3 defeats have been on the road. Line opened a 6...down to 5.5 currently. Unfortunately I only see KU as a 3 - 4 point favorite here??? I will throw a dolla on the Hawks but would like to see the line move to 5 (hate the hook!!)

Have fun tonight...I gave my bench seats to a friend of the family that graduated A&M:scared will be watching on the boobtube:00hour

That response is exactly why most good handicappers on the site will be so confident with the Jayhawks. You and your fish public breatheran see that you are getting five points with a Top 10 team and can't believe your good fortune.

I'm not sure why I will dignify this with a response... but I am nothing if not an educator.

Gillespie worked UNDER Self for something like five years at two stops. Self chose him, and Gillespie himself has on numerous occasions credited Self with teaching him almost everything he knows about coaching/recruiting.

To insinuate that Gillespie knows something more than Self about a system that SELF TAUGHT HIM shows why newbies get no respect around here. Take your arrogance to another thread, doofus.

For sure... and you didnt even mention the Huskers winning in Columbia, which isnt a small feat for that school...

I am definately rooting for your boys, Dayad. Like I've told you, they are my second favorite team in the country.

oh yeah...fish public? You must be speaking about yourself....YOU ARE THE PUBLIC...and therefore, I happily played A&M...Everything in your post is garbage my friend and your reasoning is a joke. Here is a fact - I said Gillespie is a master of the offense (he knows the ins and outs - I DIDNT SAY HE KNEW MORE, CLOWN) and guess what, he controlled tempo from the start and shut down your big bad gaybirds...I appreciate you paying for my huge bar tab last night. I will continue to look for your threads in the future and continue to out think and outclass you. Why dont YOU take your arrogant and ignorant sorry A@@ to another site.

You need to first outclass someone to continue to outclass them. Go back to your sheep.

Wow! Your big bar tab with all of your friends! Ha ha, give me a break. You are a loser, sir. It takes a lot of courage to talk shi* on an internet gambling message board.

Exact reason why good handicappers leave this site. What a joke.

Here is my two season college basketball documented records at this site:
---
Last season: 66-45-3 (+$2,233)
This season: 4-4 (-$40)
----
What are yours? Or haven't you gotten around to posting plays yet with your 17 posts?

I merely corrected your previous assinine statement, which made absolutely no sense. You don't know college basketball, you don't understand it. You are new to a message board, and because of an obvious lack of social skill, want to be accepted in a place where you don't have to show your face. Congrats. Don't come into my thread and say incorrect things about Self-Gillespie to get attention without expecting a retort, jackass.

KU was up by 10 with 5 minutes left in a game they controlled from the beginning and imploded down the stretch. I guess that makes me an idiot and you a genuis. If KU had held on, I can promise you I would not have come back here and typed in capital letters and made wild proclamations about my exhorbant bar tab.
