I'm beginning to think crunching numbers and doing research is a waste of time in baseball. It seems like every game comes down to a situation of whether or not a bullpen is going to give the game away. I try to take the games that have the most practical chance of winning but that hasn't paid off last year or so far this year. Alright, enough venting...
Dodgers (-120) - Not much analysis on this one. Just going with the better pitcher and betting against the Brewers sweeping the Dodgers. They should be able to put up 4 or 5 in this game and I think that will be enough.
A's (-120ML) & -2.5 (+210) - If this game doesn't hit I'll probably take some time off. There's just no way in hell the M's should win this game as far as I'm concerned. Then again, I was a bit surprised when they won last night considering how Blanton owned them last year. Harden's numbers against the M's are 4-1 with a 1.34 earny. I don't think he is going to have much trouble with the M's lineup tonight. It's the same lineup that couldn't score runs last year and the only new additions are Vidro and Guillen. Not exactly worldbeaters. I think the 8 runs they put up last night were a bit of a fluke. They won't be an offensive powerhouse this year.
Batista has been a very average pitcher over his career and this will be his first start at the Safe. He got drilled in spring training so I hope that carries over into tonight's game. The A's lineup is little more than a AAA lineup but I think their patience and discipline will pay off tonight. Look for them to work the count against Batista and hit him hard when they get pitches to hit. If the A's get out to an early lead they should be able to put the game away because Grover always brings in the scrubs from the pen when the M's are down.
I'm taking the moneyline and also putting a few bucks on the -2.5 alternate runline. :scared I think this will be a 7-2 or 7-3 type of game.
Good luck all...
