Pseudoephedrine HCL, is a vaso-constrictor which causes the tissue that is filled with blood in y our sinuses to shrink, Kinda like Preperation H for your nose!!! Take Physiology and you to can know these things! Or just BS your way through! Regular Ephedrine is a Vasoconstrictor as well, thats why Ephedra products cause your heart rate to increase and your blood pressure go up because it "tightens your vessels".

I know the answer to the mint thingy but I cant remember the names of the fibers on your tongue that sense cold, It was discussed in an Animal Biology Graduate class I had at Auburn, but too many beers and such have moved these answers to the back of my skull!

i am in neuro right now and havne't gotten to taste but am working on other afferent pathways which include pain and temp......

think of it like this......when you get a sunburn, and i slap your back....it will hurt way more than usual right? this is a hypersensitive pain coming your way and it is due to a complex array of chemicals -- which affect your pain nerves -- and these chemicals are relased from tissue affected by the burn and or nerve restructuring may occur as well after a sunburn......anyways.....a normally friendly pat on the back all of a sudden is a painful experience......

most likely, a mint releases chemicals in your mouth.....these chemicals may interact with taste receptors and or nerve pathways which also may be the same pathways or have connections with those pathways of a cold sensation......making cold hypersensitive after eating a mint.....

that is probably as technical as you want it.....hope it clears things up......lol
