You want to know what the Leafs need to do to win this game tonight? It's not very elaborate. It's called basic fundamentals, something that Anaheim is very good at, and the Leafs were good at last night.
1) Get the puck deep. Seems simple enough eh? All of Philly's rushes and chances start from a neutral zone give away. When the Leafs get it deep, it allows them to fight for the puck, work it along the boards and gives them more time and opportunities in the offensive zone. This is crucial for them. The games that they have lost I have watched them time after time give the puck away between the blue lines or have a defenseman pinch up in the play and not get the puck into the Philly zone and then because of that they get caught on 2 on 1's or 3 on 2's.
2) Get the freaking puck onto the net. Well, preferrably in it and not ON it, but you know what I mean. Hit the damn target!!! Good things happen when you throw the puck on net. Force Cechmanek to make a save, you never know where the rebound will go. You might get a lucky bounce, the puck might be misplayed, but if you don't shoot, or don't force Roman to be sharp then it is an advantage to the other team.
Plain and simple. The Leafs do these and stay out of the penalty box I think they have a legit shot at winning.
