If I was able to cast a vote, it would be for Alexis Rios of the Toronto Blue Jays. I worked for the BlueJays his rookie year in Charleston, WV he was good then, and he is great now. He will show his power soon to. Here are his stats as of tonight 8/26

79 Games
309 AB
45 Runs
92 Hits
29 Extra Base Hits
.298 Ave
9 Steals/ 1 CS

Who does everyone else like?

since the rookies in the american league pretty much suck, i think crosby wins by default. hes having a decent year, but hardly spectacular. not saying much for the american league rookies if the winner is currently hitting .249.

as far as rios goes, im not sure hes the best rookie on his own team. i think that david bush is going to be a really nice pitcher for them in the coming years. hes more than held his own this season and has opposed some big name hurlers on the days he takes the ball

theres just no good rookies in the american league this season.

as far as the national league goes, thats where i think its a no-brainer. khalil greene is hands down the best rookie in baseball. he makes crosby look average.

look average...LOL...THATS THE FUNNIEST THING I'VE HEARD...i watch bobby crosby every game...he makes the same spectacluar defensive plays but nobody sees them because espn is too caught up on the yanks/sox/cubs..etc

green 425 .271 10 52 .755

crosby 425 .249 17 49 .761

yeah, green makes him look average

mjalam:

hes not as good as khalil greene, period. cant exactly accuse anyone of west coast bias when greene plays for the padres.

what area of the game is crosby better? im open to a counter argument. but to me, greene is better defensively, is hitting almost 25 points higher, has not struck out nearly as much as crosby, and has more plate discipline. i do think crosby is more suited for the american league game as he has more power than greene but thats it.

when i see khalil greene, i see a player who looks like he has been in the league for 5 years. i think crosby is a little more raw who looks like a rookie at times. both good players, but id take greene over crosby in a heartbeat. i know you get offended when people say anything bad about the a's but greene is the best rookie in baseball.
