my lone futures wager:
houston astros to win the world series (+850)
astros have far and away the best 1/2 pitching duo in the national league. their middle relief is a little shaky, but lidge is on the verge of becoming one of the premier closers in the game. and october has a way of introducing america to stud pitchers (krod in 2002, beckett in 2003). something tells me the cards end up like the mariners did a few years ago -- crusied through the regular season and then came up lame in the playoffs. and these odds just so happen to be the exact odds the pistons were at when i grabbed em in late may  deja vu?

game one (schilling vs. washburn)
boston red sox (-160) over anaheim

game one (santana vs. mussina)
new york and minnesota under 7.5

heres to a great october. :toast:

Good luck G --- I like that Houston play. I firmly believe that the winner of the Astros vs Braves series will represent the NL in the world series. I think you are dead on with your take on the Cards, they have been on cruise control for over a month, and it's tough to turn it back on just like that.

I think we've got a pretty good chance of seeing both wild card teams square off in the Fall Classic this year.

game two (martinez vs. colon)
boston and anaheim under 9 (-120)

angels have never hit pedro well at all. and one thing i must say for colon is that -for as fat and inconsistent as he is - he has been pretty solid in the postseason. he went toe to toe with some good pitchers (garcia, pedro, et al) when he was with the tribe and he more than held his own. his last month has been very encouraging as well (less than 3 runs in 5 of his last 6 starts). goes without saying its a must win for anaheim.
