I'm gonna dive right in here and play some futures this yr. I think these are all solid bets, FWIW......

To WIN Stanley Cup......

Devils +500 x2
Sens +1000 x2
FlyGirls +1400 x2

To WIN the West......

RedWings +220 x2
Kings +1200 x2 Homer pick:D

Team Season Total Points......

Thrashers Over72.5-115 x2
Sabres Over75.5-115 x2
Devils Under110.5-115 x2
Stars Under106.5-115 x2

I was telling Chenks the other day. After looking at all the rosters, Detroit is by far head and shoulder above the rest, and that's with CuJo as a back up. CuJo will be moved some time, and Det will be compensated with a big name offensive player, and after that, everyone else in the West will be playing for 2nd place. Just look at Det's 3 defensive lines......Hatcher and Lidstrom, Dandenault and Chelios, Schneider and Fischer. That is just fawking disgusting. Hasek should be back in rhythm by mid-season, and then they will be very tough to beat. +220 seems like a small return, but if the Wings make it to the Conf Finals, it's a guarantee that they will NOT be a +220 dog, so will set up a little hedge opportunity here.

Any thoughts??

Good luck, everyone!!!!!! DROP THE DAMN PUCK ALREADY!:D

Yah I look for Fischer to have A HUGE YEAR.

You heard it hear first the WINGS will play defense this year, they wont be chasing around like they did last year.

Dubber I found Ottawa 4 to 1 to win the East:eek:

ddubs - Great stuff. All three are legit to win the East. I believe the Wings is solid as well. As for the Thrasher and Sabres, they both look very good. Dallas will have a drop off due to their defense. Devils always start out the first few weeks slow and that should be enough to stay under the 110.5. If there was a prop to play an under team total points in the 1st half of the season I would play Phoenix under as the majority of their games in the 1st half of the season are on the road due to their new building opening up Dec.27 so they wanted as many home games for $$$ reasons in their new building. Just a thought.

chenker - 4 to 1 are great odds to win the East for the Sens!

Chenks, 4 to 1 is pretty much a must buy. I can only get 3-1 at Oly. But decided to go for the 10-1 for a hedge opp at the Cup Finals.

Kev, their D is primarily why I took Dallas Under. I think losing Sydor and their captain Hatcher is really gonna hurt them. After Numminen and Zubov, there's really no one that you'd be concerned of. Boucher is basically there to be a physical presence, and he's injury-prone. I'm not too impressed with Robida, either. Numminen's age is getting up there, too. If Zubov or Numminen ever get hurt for more than a month, they're in deep doo-doo. Modano is always a big injury risk, as well. Plus Turco just signed a long term deal, and we've seen the last few yrs what "job security" does to a goalie in their 1st yr;) . Another reason I believe we should FADE the chit out of Jiggy the 1st month or so.

Buff has 2 good goalies like Florida and some great off-season additions, IMO, especially Briere and my fav, Drury. If "the Satan" would sign that contract already, I think they'll bust thru 75.5 easily.

Thought real hard about taking Kings Over82.5, as well. They got an upgrade in goalie by getting Cechmanek (at least in the regular season, OK!, you naysayers:thefinger ). They have one of the most potent offenses when they're HEALTHY. With all the injuries last season, they still managed to get 78 points, so to get 2 more Wins plus a Tie seems like a cinch. I'm reluctant to take it because it seems like the injuries are starting to mount already in the pre-season. They just lost Cammalleri and Aulin in the pre-season for a month or so, Miller just got hurt with a fractured hand as well, Deader and Ally are still not close to 100%, have yet played a game, and have only had NON-CONTACT practices. Horny and Spits should be happy to hear that with the injuries, GLEASON is almost certain to make the opening roster. I might still make the bet, but want to wait another week or so to see if I can get any more updates.

HEy guys,

I made 5 season point total plays on Sunday night when they first came out.

Dallas Under 107.5 -115
New Jersey Under 111.5 -115
Toronto Under 100.5 -115
Atlanta Over 72.5 -115
Los Angeles Over 80.5 -115

Obviously alot of these totals have moved since Sunday night. Regardless I still think they will have room to spare.

DDubs, what is the word on Gleason? Does he really have a shot to start the season with the big club?

Cheers

No probs, Kyle. Go ahead.

Spits......Miller's injury turns out to be only a week to week thing, so Gleason's chance to make the roster is diminished. So far the Kings have 14 defencemen left in their camp. 6 are rookies including Gleason. The only rookie who has any NHL experience is Corvo, who was called up late in the season. Gleason, though, has made the most noise in the camp, with his speed and agility, willingness to take the body, and his hard slap shot, compared to the other rookies. Right now the ones who are in for sure are Miller, Norstrom, Visnovsky, Modry, Kuznetsov, Norton. It's pretty much a 4-man race to take the last 2 spots between Corvo, Gleason, Muir, and Holland. My guess is the vets will get the call to let Corvo and Gleason play more games in the minors. Taylor is very impressed with his offensive skills, but thinks he needs some more work on the defensive end. But if there're any more injuries to the team, I'm sure both of them will be called up in a heartbeat, especially if it's any of the top 2 D lines.

A TON of movements on the totals, glad I got mine in relatively early......

Dal went to 104.5 I'd still take the Under. You heard it here, Dal won't even crack 100;) :D
NJ went to 106.5
Buf went to 77.5
Atl went to 75

ddubs,

I'd be very surprised if Gleason sticks with the big club because it isn't going to help him to play 1 shift a period as their 7th or 8th defencemen. Hopefully he can go to their top minor-league affiliate and get tons of ice-time and get acclamated to the speed of the pro game.

Spits, totally agree with you. I hope they're keeping him in camp just to let him get a little more taste of the NHL style of hockey before sending him down to Manchester. They did the same with Corvo last yr until late in the season when they had no choice but to bring him up, because they still were in the hunt for 8th place and Corvo was leading the minors in scoring amongst D-men. I think both will be with Manchester to begin the season, and Corvo will be the 1st to be called up if needed, then if Gleason is having a good 1st 1/2, maybe they'll bring him up. I've never seen the kid play, but from what you, Horny, and the newspapers are saying, he has unlimited potential. I certainly hope the management will take their time in grooming a possible future star defenseman.

Modry is now skating with Ally and Deader in "mild contact" drills, so we're slowly, but surely getting healthier. Just a little bummed that the injuries are starting to mount before the season even got started. Still a big question mark whether Ally or Deader would be 100% AT ALL this season. Cechmanek has been on fire in the pre-season, though. Hopefully he can carry the load a little until these guys come back.

Sure is, VD. I just hope some of the trash that's been going on in the other forums don't spill over to ours here. Good luck this year:).

Another blow to the Kings defensive line......Brad Norton will miss 3 months after suffering 2 torn tendons in his right forearm, being cut by a skate during the pre-season game vs Phx Tuesday nite. That pretty much means that Corvo will be on the opening day roster.

It's also been announced that neither Ally nor Deader will play in the remaining 3 pre-season games that the Kings have, and a slim chance that they will even open the season Oct 9 vs Detroit. Both of them are still having occasional spells of post-concussion syndrome.

On a brighter note, Dustin Brown, the 18-yr-old phenom, LA's #1 draft pick this yr, is really making it hard on Murray to decide whether to keep him in the big leagues or not, after scoring 2 more goals vs Phx last nite.

Personally, unless Brown is going to be on the top 2 lines you send him back to junior for another year. Nine times out of ten it ends up hurting them more by keeping them around when it would be better for them to develop their skills and dominate at the junior level. One year back in the juniors will allow the player to be the kind of player they have the potential of being down the road.

I'm really impressed with the knowledge that everyone has in this forum about the NHL.

Almost as good as my knowledge of the NFL

Now if only I could pick football winners like everyone else in here picks hockey winners then I'd be set ;)
