Here we go.

Last year, my concern was that I wasn't reading enough, so I set a goal of 15 books. I ended up reading 17. Along the way, I realized that I was avoiding books over 350 pages. So, rather than play psychological warfare with myself, I am going to keep logging my completed books but I am not setting a goal this year.

Sidenote: I am seriously considering taking up Spanish. The fact that I couldn't talk to anyone in Miami has been eating away at me. If I go for it, my reading log will be negatively affected.

Good luck with your reading this year. I had the opposite problem all I read was long books last year: John Adams, The Book of Basketball, Team of Rivals (Lincoln), Infinite Jest, meh too many long ones.

Just went to the bookstore today and picked up another two for the queue

1. 4 Hour Work Week updated
2. Youth In Revolt

I usually try to finish a book every 2 weeks but I got in a run last year and finished with at least 35 if not more:scared

But I read fiction and most are fast reads

And don't forget to use your local libraries {especially audio}....it helps my check and job security:toast:

Jim Norton books. Nice. He's up there with Greg Giraldo and Jeff Ross for me.

As for Spanish, you should give it a whirl. I'm sure you've heard this before, but it really is one of the easiest languages to learn. And living here in the US it definitely comes in handy, practically anywhere in the country.

Jim Norton's books were awful. I thought they looked funny in the book store....boy was I wrong. Don't judge a book by its cover, yo.

:mj07: Really? Well I'm glad I said something, I won't buy them now. I like his stand-up but it doesn't surprise me that his books aren't great.

If you like quirky books, you should read a book called Driving Mr. Albert.

Stand-up does not translate well into book form for these guys. I love David Cross as a stand-up but his book was brutal.

I am hoping Jeffrey Ross's book bucks the trend. He's hilarious. I got his book for Christmas and I am really looking forward to it.

I'm kind of lukewarm on David Cross. I like his stand-up alright, but there are others I like a lot more. And I know most people loved him in Arrested Development, but I always felt like he was trying too hard to be funny, which kills it for me.

Jeff Ross is awesome. His roast of Shaq and Emmitt Smith is priceless.

I was tempted to by the Cross or Ross book today at the store. I appreciated Cross so much more after going back and watching the "Mr.Show" series from the 90's one week. His humor on Arrested Development made me crack up but that ensemble is what did it.

gmroz,

I notice a lot of Chuck's books. I've read everyone but the last one I just couldn't get into. If you ever get a chance pick up his non-fiction book "Stranger Then Fiction" it is about messed up stories people told him while he was on book tours good stuff.

Forgot to mention just got done with the Magic and Bird book "When The Game Was Ours" not a bad read was surprised that my little cousin knew how to pick out a good book for Christmas.

My sister-in-law recommended his books and I have really enjoyed them. Pygmy is a cool story, but it is really hard to read it the way he wrote (broken English). I figured Stranger Than Fiction was the book form of the movie with Will Ferrell. I am really intrigued. Thanks for the tip.

I hate to do this, but can you start a new thread and I'll copy these posts to it after it's established that the text is normal size in the new thread?

I'll close this in the meantime.
