2012-13 Bowl Season Plays

Neither team can play defense and when both teams put up points at will, taking the dog is the best way to go knowing a backdoor cover can occur with 2 potent offenses. These smaller conferences love to get up playing the BCS conferences in the early bowl games. Small play for me, might play 2nd half depending if the value is there.

Dogs are always very profitable early in the bowl season, getting double digits with a team that can score is something I can't give up. The MAC comes to play each bowl season!

I look at this game with who has more motivation. Clearly it's Ball St. in my eyes. This team can score and has improved alot on defense this year from last years team. Line is inflated due to UCF proximity to the St. Petersburg and I have this line more at a pick'em. Love the Cards in this spot.

Aztecs run D is average at best and we all know BYU can the run ball as can either QB but it does look like Nelson is out for BYU. BYU run D is super and the one thing that Aztecs do well is run the ball, so when looking at this match up I can't see how it won't make SD St. one dimensional. Throw in the fact that that HC Mendenhall knows how to play against Rocky Long's 3-3-5 defensive scheme as he had Long as his DC on his staff at UNM for 5 years......and you have a team in BYU that should walk out with the win. Mendenhall even had the 3-3-5 scheme for his Cougs but has since changed. Throw in the fact that BYU has great special teams with Senior Riley Stephenson who was 2nd in the nation in punting.......I just cant see SD St. pulling this one out.

Talking about the punting, the kid was nails all year, huge net yardage and was a weapon for the Cougs!

But I know what you are saying about the kicker......Mendenhall passed on FG's alot due to his problems.

After going through many of the threads on this forum, it looks as though I am in the minority tonight taking BYU. Many people on the site are not only on SD St. but the ML alot too.....the heck with the points. :shrug:

As you know, it is sometimes good to be part of the minority with your pick. I actually get nervous when everybody on MJ's is on the same side.

I really like S.D.St. tonight, but am considering making it a no play and just going small on the under just for some action!

Very true, well said. I have been on the other side like this before and won, but I have also lost being in the minority lol!

When I stated Riley Stephenson would be big......I never thought he would be HUGE!! Guy nailed SD St. inside their own 3yd. line 4 times in the 2nd half alone........it led to turnovers and eventually cost SD St. the game!:0074

Total has dropped from 61.5 to 58.5 in 15 hours for the Ball St./UCF game.......the game is in St. Petersburg but is it indoors at Tropican Field? Just trying to figure out why the sudden movement! Thanks in advance.

oh, re: fresno - i've had a soft spot for fresno for roughly 10 years now, back to when they started challenging and beating the big boys. i think they were the first "mid-major" that showed smaller schools could compete with the big boys on the gridiron on a regular basis. i'll never forget the game at usc (with reggie bush). at the time, fresno was probably the biggest bet i'd ever made, and i even put a little on the money line. i think they were getting somewhere between 17-21 points, and they damn near won the game. those bulldogs made me a lot of money.
