Is this correct was just on the news. They say these folks dont pay any taxes. Yet they had one Father there and his check stub had all taxes taken out. Fed, S/S Med-Care and State. He also said he had to pay sales taxes just like anyone else. I understand if his taxes are done correct way. He should get most of his fed taxes back he pays in. But So do many others that make well over $26000. Im sure he does not get his S/S Med-Care and State taxes back. So why do they say this guy pays no taxes. They say giveing this hard working siff 400 bucks is welfare. Chit I see welfare everyday. This guy does not fit it.

The guy is a working stiff who doesn't make enough money to qualify for welfare...er tax breaks, loopholes, ya that's the ticket. This guy only makes $26,000 so his lot in life does not allow him this welfare..er break...er hey, tell the guy to go out and make more money!

sounds like he needs to work more or get a different job and quit bitching about a 400 dollar tax break. Give me a fing break. He should be taxed more to even it out a little bit, how about that argument? Nah, we'll just penalize all those who have worked hard and are successful who will be hiring guys like him for higher salaries. That sounds like the ticket! Tax the "rich" guys because they don't really deserve all that money anyway. :p DJV, why in the heck would he expect to get back his Social Security/Medicare???? He's going to get everything else back including state and federal, but now u want him to get back his SS?? Unreal!!

I've heard that I pay sales tax, local taxes, etc... arguement, it doesn't hold water, this is a "Federal Income Tax Break" for people who make enough money that they still have payed taxes after they have received thier normal refund...

my first year out of college i worked for about that amount and after all my deductions i payed about 8% of my income in taxes...

why do 8% people need a tax break?

one would think that the people getting raped at over 40% should get one.

Or just make everybody pay 100% of everything you earn and let the goverment decide where you live and where you can pick your food up.

Where is the incentive for me to earn more, so I can have more, if the goverment is just going to take more? And where is the line drawn that makes you rich?

And of of course the guy there talking to was a corporal in the Army.
Of course the point is dam he can die for us. He cant get 400 lousey bucks back.
It's so easy but our government likes everything hard and screwd up. All you have to do is for everyone that works. No one pays any USA income taxes on there first 15 grand. Same for everyone no bitching. Rich, Poor, But you still have to work to get the break.

Couldnt have said it better myself djv. You have to work to get the breaks. This is why I never had a problem giving a tax break to those making 6 figures and over. If you are making $20k a year you are getting all your money back anyway, or you should be. Why should you get an additional break? If you're making $150,000 a year and paying $60,000 in taxes, these are the people that should be getting a break. And no I dont want to hear any bitching about "Well they still have $90,000 after taxes." Whether theyre a lawyer/doctor or just in general business, they are busting crazy hours to make 150 and getting raped at 40% or more for their troubles. The tax breaks should always be proportional to what you pay into the system IE - you get a break if you deserve one.

Keep in mind that one major purpose of taxes is to build and maintain roads, establish a police and fire department, maintain schools, and all the other myriad of activities that the government does for us. In a strict sense, the guy making $26k per year who gets most of his tax payments refunded anyway, gets these services almost free. The guy making 90k per year could never get his money's worth from all the taxes he pays. He and those like him pay the share of all the users that don't pay taxes. What it is plain and simple is redistribution of wealth.

Couldnt agree more ferdville. I get sick and tired of hearing how the wealthy people should pay for everything, they should pay more in taxes etc. Just as an example take a couple who pays over $66k in federal and state taxes last year. Neither went to the hospital, they already pay tolls on the roads they drive on or on the trains they take to work, they dont have kids in schools - but still they pay $66k in taxes. I dont want to hear the "Well that $400 means more to him than $66k does to a couple making $250k+" Thats bullshit. People in this country shouldnt be penalizing other people for success, nor should the tax system be discouraging people from wanting to make more money.

But penguins right, no matter what you say someones going to bitch.

first 15K is tax free in the states ???? (is that after the 401K deduction) ?

Regarding what is being said - Spock agrees totally.

There is of course another option to all this bitching:

Move to Canada and place bets online and go to the casino.
Make 26K and its all yours.

Otherwise shut the fock up and pay the taxes and contribute like everyone else :D

If this joker does not contribute how are the poor refugee's .. illegal immigrants .. and the welfare people gonna get paid

ok .. mebbe i was too harsh there .. but if arguments like these go on everyone will downscale their salaries and guess where the economy and govt will head .. . not north .. too cold

gonna go south .. down the freakin drain .. .

man the Stella Beer was good today  :)

hang in there boys ..

I think u are adding another point to the original thought of this thread. However, since this fellow is a corporal, he's getting free housing if lives on base (right?) & free meals (right?). He's getting a lot more bang for his buck already.

Flat tax is the only fair tax.

Downsize the government by reducing the IRS by half, throw away most of the exemptions, and have a flat tax of %24 of your income for everyone. Equal rights = Equal tax.

I like that: EQUAL RIGHTS = EQUAL TAX

It has a nice ring to it.

I like the flat tax also but it won't fly because if you take away the exemptions all those who are crying and whinning now about paying too much tax will end up paying more.

I want all tax breaks I can get now that im retired. I do want my government to be able to pay for them. Other wise they will sneak up on us and get it back anyway. As for roads and police fire protection. They hall it out of my ass in property taxes. If they step alittle more on our heads with those. Im heading for a big RV. And they can kiss my behind.
