it was coin counting homework.......had $1 and $2 Canadian coins in the mix.......... do they have a name? and if so, what is it?

Loonies and Toonies!! I might have spelled Toonie wrong.

The one dollar coin has a Loon on it, the Toonie is silver with a gold colored circle insert.

suppose when he *added* up the total of the change in the purse, i could have really had him impress his teacher, and done the CDN $$ in USD conversion

It's really odd buying things in Canada and getting back a bunch of coin change instead of bills. Takes a bit to get used to, seems like you are always getting shortchanged at first.

LMAO, tell me about it.......i'm HORRIBLE about spending change (giving exact change when buying things) just use bills....... end up with a 50 lb purse, then empty it out

coming back from Canada, it STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! add all those up, and realize it is 2 weeks grocery money that i can't even manage to cash in down here!!!! Airport won't take coins, and have to be a customer of the only banks that do it....LOL

Wasn't there always a 50 cent piece in Canada?? I think it just wasn't used much.

Actually in Britain there are a lot more coins than Canada. Everything up to 5 pounds sterling is in coins.
