POST SEASON RECORD (23-22) - $928

Thank god the first round is over! Cujo lets in a goal early in the third he should have stopped and Mogilny puts in an empty netter to send last night's total over. WTF

The book I use only has a few second round series prices on the board. So far these are the series plays I am playing:

SHARKS (+150)
CANADIENS (EVEN) HUGE $$$$$$$$$$$$

WENESDAY PLAYS 5/1

SHARKS +130 *2 Units* $200/$260 Sharks have had a couple days off while the AVS just wrapped up their series with the KINGS. AVS could have some tired legs and I think Roy will continue with his incosistent play!

Under 41/2 -125 *2 Units* $250/$200
This will be a low scoring series!

good luck- I cannot bet against the Avs in this series. I will bet against in certain games based on the situation though.

I like the Habs and Sens at even money because I think at least one of the 2 will win their series.

In my opinion the Habs are a very questionable series bet. I watched a couple of their games against Carolina and this series looks even more one-sided in the run of play than the Boston series. We all know that Theodore played out of this world and took that series but is making a wager where you know you need an all time great goalie performance to win really worth it?

Canes score consistently on 2 lines, they have a very active and disciplined defense and a hot goalie. Maybe I am too high on them because they have been my sleeper team since the Olympic break when I looked at all the eastern teams and picked them to reach the finals. Perhaps there is a bit of sentiment in what I think of them but I still find them to be the best team in the east and I think this particular series really falls to their advantage.

OK. My mourning period is over.

I agree with Nick here. The first 4 games against Boston, Theodore was average at best and the series was tied 2-2.
Then, Boston outshot Montreal in G5 44-13 (plus 4 posts) and in G6 35-18 (plus one post) for a total of 79-31 two game total. I know it sounds like sour grapes but Montreal didn't out play Boston in those final two games until there was 12 minutes left in G6 when they really bore down and wouldn't let Boston out of their own zone let alone have two consecutive passes.

For the series, there were literally only 3 times when I thought Montreal outplayed Boston.

Game 1 in Boston when Montreal won 5-2. Bruins scored first but were never in control

G3 - in Montreal. The last 12 minutes of the game when Boston gave up 3 goals in 5 minutes plus the empty netter. Game went from 3-1 Boston to 4-3 Montreal in 5 minutes.

G6 - in Montreal. Last 12 minutes as I mentioned before.

Carolina has played great since the olympic break. Two solid lines (much like Boston has - on paper anyway) that can score will again put the pressure on Theodore. I think their "D" is faster & more mobile than Hal Gill, Sean O'Donnell and company. Plus, add in there's no Zednik and basically, the Canadien offense is limited, at best. They showed that in G's 5 & 6 by scoring a total of 4 goals and relying on Theodore's save pct of .975 to win both games. Even if Boston scored on all those posts they hit in G5, his save pct is .927 and they are still going back to Boston at 3-3.

The playoffs are a time for some "unknown" to make plays or chip in the unexpected goal. After seeing Montreal for 6 straight games, I don't know who would or could do that for them right now. They lost a lot when he (Zednik) went down.

The big negative I see for Carolina right now would be do you stay with Weekes or do you go back to your "#1" guy in Irbe?

Good luck with your Canadien pick but I would think that you would do better off on a game by game basis. Again, if this sounds too much like sour grapes I am sorry - I don't want to sound like that because that's not the kind of person I am.
