Sorry late ... at work and I could not get online earlier to post anything but this is what I played for Thursday's games.

Butler (-2) over ODU ... W
BC (-3) over TT ... W
Louisville (-6) over Stanford ... W
Texas A&M (-13) over Penn ... W
Oral Roberts (+7) over Washington State ... L
VCU (+6.5) over Duke ... W

Favorite game was Louisville ... put double on them ... wish I could have posted earlier not that anyone would follow my plays anyway.

UNLV (+2) over Georgia Tech

Long Beach State (+8) over Tennessee ... although I think Tennessee is capable of making the Sweet 16 if they can get by this game ... I think LBS has a good shot at the upset and I like the cover in a game that I believe will go down to the wire

Notre Dame (-3.5) over Winthrop ... I liked Winthrop as potential cinderalla going into the tournament but I just don't like this matchup for them. I think Notre Dame cover in the end after a hard fought decent game. I feel pretty much the same as my Butler play yesterday in which many people like ODU. I feel bad for Winthrop cause I think they could have caused a stir in the tourney had they got a better matchup.

Nevada (-1.5) over Creighton ... I expect another hard fought battle as I was disappointed to see these two potential sleepers paired against each other in the opening round but I like Nevada to have enough to get the win especially after their disappointing first round exit last year as a 5 seed.

Oregon (-8) over Miami (OH) ... Oregon is playing really well right now and I think they could be a sleeper to get to the final 8 or even the final 4.

Wow, Winthrop really is tough. They are gonna give Oregon a tough battle in round #2. I could see them taking out Oregon and/or Wisconsin and making the Elite 8.

Nevada pulled out a tough one and I think they have a great shot at knocking off Memphis.

Long Beach State must play absolutely no defense ... Tennessee and Virginia should be a heckuva game.

Need Oregon to cover to make this afternoon successful as today was much tougher than yesterday.

Going to look at tonights card again although I was not too thrilled with any of the lines tonight when I made my earlier plays.

Okay, found one I like for sure tonight...

NC State (-7) over Marist

Also looking at playing Arizona, Kentucky and Texas.

Initially I had planned on playing Nova over KU but Nardi is going to be limited and I think they need his tough senior leadership and ball handling to win this game.

I also think Niagra could hang around with Kansas but I have a feeling it could be one of those that gets out of hand late. I think Illinois and Va Tech is a toss up so if I were playing, I would take the points but I don't think it's worth a wager.

I think Southern Illinois also will pull away from Holy Cross although Holy Cross should be competetive for awhile. Games like Texas A&M yesterday and Wisconsin today are prime examples of why I don't like playing these dogs who I think can be competitive but not win outright. The favorite just seems to close well and cover in those type games.

Wow, lucky as hell to push on Ohio State ... if I was going to lose, I was hoping Xavier won the game outright since I did not pick Ohio State in the Final 4 of any of my brackets.

10-4-2 so far this week after a nice day yesterday

Had no interest in the early game as I think Tennessee and Virginia should be a tight battle that comes down to the wire. Not worth a wager either way.

Looking over the rest now to finalize some plays.

Week 1 Madness Tally

Week 1 Madness Tally

Finished the first weekend 11-6-2 for +6.4 units. I am happy to be up but disappointed that I changed my original opinions on a few games and that cost me. The Wisconsin and Oregon games yesterday were games in which I totally changed my initial opinion and took the opposite. After watching Winthrop in the opening round, I thought they might be able to beat Oregon since the Ducks were a jump shooting team which generally means streakiness. Well, the Ducks were hitting on all cylinders after a slow start while Winthrop went ice cold and got blown away. Just frustrating cause going into the tourney, I really liked Oregon to get to the Elite 8 and possible give Florida a good battle which looks probable at this point. Wisconsin (who inititally I thought could go out early and definitely not get by Oregon) on the other hand looked so bad in round 1 before waking up that I thought they would be extremely focused for UNLV but the Rebels proved they are much better than I gave them credit for.

Kansas -9 over Southern Illinois ... Kansas is playing too well and are just too talented ... SUI may keep it close for a half

UCLA -3 over Pittsburgh ... Pitt is tough but I think UCLA is just a bit too good

Texas A&M -3 over Memphis ... if Roberts were 100% and the line was the same, I might actually take Memphis but then again if he were healthy, maybe Memphis would be pk, -1 ... and I would probably take A&M ... probably the weakest of these plays for me

Tennessee +5 over Ohio State ... would not be shocked by an outright upset

Well 2-2 on a night with some very good games and exciting finishes. Gotta give SIU credit ... they hung tough and play some great defense. The A&M loss was frustrating cause I have them in the Final Four on most of my brackets. I also can't believe Ohio State came back again. I crashed watching the Pitt/UCLA game last night late in the 2nd half and when I woke up this morning and turned on Sportscenter, I was shocked to see Ohio State won the game. Glad I did not play Tennessee on the money line cause that would have been heartbreaking. Anyway, back later for another go tonight.

Butler (+10.5) over Florida ... once again I like Florida to win the game but I think Butler plays them very tough and get the cover

Vandy (+8) over Georgetown ... like to Georgetown to win the game and make it to the final but I think an underrated Vandy squad plays them tough

UNLV (+3.5) over Oregon ... UNLV will D Oregon up bigtime and this should be a great game with Oregons long range firing squad

USC (+8.5) over North Carolina ... Floyd is a great college coach and the USC program will be top notch as long as he remains there ... I would not be shocked if they pulled an upset but I think Carolina will probably pull it out

Final 4 Lightning Plays

16-12-2 for the tournament so far as I faltered a bit last weekend although I did luckily hit Georgetown over NC Sunday but I wasn't home to post.

Georgetown (-1) over Ohio State ... I think Oden and Hibbert pretty much will cancel wach other out unless one gets in foul trouble early. The difference to me is Green. Ohio State has no one IMO to match up and cancel him out. Georgetown should win a great close game.

Under 132.5 ... Last years game was in the 50's and as long as both big guys stay in the game, I think defense and a slow pace keep this one pretty low as well

Florida (-2.5) over UCLA ... I know UCLA plays GREAT defense and this could be considered a revenge game but Florida's starters came back to repeat and now that they are on the big stage in the Final Four, I do not think UCLA which is average at best on offense will be able to win this game. It should be a much more competitive game than last years championship game but I think the Gators will be focused from the beginning and they are just too darn talented.

under 132.5 ... we already know about UCLA's D and Florida's defense is pretty damn good as well and a bit underrated. They are well coached by Donovan and I think he will have they ready to play defense and try and out D UCLA since everyone is talking about what the Bruins did to Kansas in the 2nd half. A lot of people are on the Bruin bandwagon right now after last weeks game and I think the Gators are ready!

Looks like another 2-2 split ... very disappointing ... can't believe this Florida/UCLA game is going over after that first 15 minutes ... unreal. They started to play run and gun porchmonkey playground ball after that ... chucking up 3's like the old Pitino Kentucky teams ...
