3 Unit play for Thursday!

Well I am back at it! I will only post one play per day for the first few weeks and on some days I might not post at all. I like to watch teams early on to see how different additions and key players losses affect team chemistry. Generally goalies are ahead of the scorers early in this season.

I will post alot of Sens info as I have the past 3 years and this year I will be adding Coyotes info to the resume.

My plays are 1-5 Units each. Last year I posted two 10 Unit plays and hit both, one against the Bruins and the other against the Penguins. I only do that when the Sens are in a great spot to jump on an opponent.

Well lets get started!

Last year's record 133-87-10 +91.00 Units (Reg. Season)

I really like the Sens tonight for a variety of reasons.

One, continuity. I play teams early in the year that have a strong core of players returning and the Sens will only have one new addition and that is RW Antoine Vermette as Marty Havlat is a hold out. Add in Spezza and Pothier who were back and forth in the minors most of last year and you have 3 new faces to start the year.
Fisher is out and won't be back until next week.

Two, defense. The Sens will have carry 8 defenseman all year as they don't want to risk the depth they have on D by trying to clear someone through waivers. The coaching knows full well that many teams are in dire need of defenseman. Any of these 8 guys can play any given night. That being said guys who are the number 5 and 6 on gamenight will bring their best game knowing one bad game will result in loss of a line-up spot. This will also allow the Sens to stay fresh on D all year with that kind of rotation. Most teams would give anything for that kind of situation.

Three, speed. Speed kills in the NHL and many teams are trying to go with speed and forgoing the slower and bigger 6'5" type of players. Sens wear the opposition's defense down as they can roll 4 lines with the best of them. Habs have an average defense as Gainey says that is his main concern as the season progresses. Sens cycle the puck so well they seem to get quite a few goals with this style of play.

Four, Hungry from the start of the season. The Sens want to show everyone from the start of the season that they are ready for everyone and want to get off to a great start. They went 7-1-1 in the pre-season using half a regular line-up each night. Sens win 50 games minimum this year. With a new owner who has deep pockets they finally have stability off the ice and won't have to answer any more questions about if they will be in Ottawa next year.

Sens win 4-1. But hey I have been wrong before. I do have a very good handle on this team and I bet against the Sens as well which you can all atest to so this is not a homer play.

Playing:

Ott. -.5(3 Units)

As much as I hate to cheer for the Sens I do think they should beat a very crappy Habs team that will do everything they can to slow this game to a crawl as they are not that good and have no Koivu tonight.

Horn- was talking to a friend who runs a veriety store in Bells corner and mentioned you and he said he knows you and you are a good guy (as I thought). Are you going to be here in Ottawa soon or are you staying down there for the year?

All I know is if Horny's on the Sens, I'm either playing them or not at all;) :D

I'm with trade, though, the price is too steep on the PL. Damn my books, none of them offer -1. I need to re-up at 5Dimes again just for games like this. I might throw them in a 2-teamer though.

Best of luck this season, Kev. Hope you hit the triple digit mark this time:toast:

Thanks guys! Now lets hit this one.

pwine - I will be back for 12 days at Christmas. I know who you are talking about. He is a solid guy. If you want you can always get my e-mail from Jack.

tm - When it came out overnight I hit it right away. It then went up to -187 at Pinnacle. Don't know what it is at now.
