What does a Full Moon have to do with 31 shootings ?

Most of these shooting happened in the worst parts of chicago and just to think , Daley wants to build an olympic stadium in that area.

I am not sure it means anything, but I do know that cops everywhere swear by this phenomena that when a full moon is out that there jobs get tougher and more dangerous.

I had never heard of it before until I relocated my journalism career to the Chicago area. Working out in the 'burbs (my paper covered Oak Park, Brookfield, Riverside Lyons Township, the near west burbs) doing the police beat after one crazy weekend, my cop source says thats just par for the course for a full moon weekend. I usually devoted a 1/2 page to the cop beat (it was a weekly paper), but I started reserving a full page if it was a full moon. And, I never had a hard time filling it through bar fights, shootings, property destruction and overall extra mayhem.

It was uncanny how often it happened. I do know city of chicago cops have told me the same thing. But when IO posted his brother was a cop, I wanted to post the full moon theory to see if his brother bought into that as well.

Sounds like his brother buys into it as well. Or at least its a topic of discussion and carries some weight.

Anyway, when I first saw the story of the 31 shootings, my first thought was what that cop told me several years ago: Just your typical full moon weekend in the city.

As far as Daley builing an Olympic Stadium in that neighborhood.......would that be next door to the casino he wants to build as well.....or, has he shelved that idea in favor of this stadium?

Soldier Field would make a great Olympic Stadium. And, it would not cost tax payers a bunch of additional tax money.

I love Chicago, but it does not need a new stadium.....unless of course we are talking about replacing where the Cubbies play baseball.

I will now duck as all the Wrigley Heads throw chit at me! :mj07:

Go Sox!!!!!

Oh the Brewers are going alright!!!

Straight to the cellar. Along with that mudhole of a stadium they have, although the beer used to be cheap there. Course what isn't cheap from Milwaukee???
