beside what saint posted & national security, there are other factors on why we should control the borders. for example our medical system is breaking down under the weight of the illegals coming into this country.
i posted part of an article written by a medical attorney in the politics forum talking about the crisies of our health care system. i suggest those who feel sorry for the illegals, or who do not want some kind of control at our borders to read that post. you may be in for a shock.

btw.. at a party a few weeks ago somebody told me that a hosp. in yuma closed down because of the illegal issue.
a couple of months ago on lou dobbs (very good show covering this issue) he had a nurse who wrote a book about a hosp. in conn. forcing to close it's doors because of the illegal issue & uncollected funds. she also talked about the untreated diseases that the illegals bring.

There are only 9 countries in the world with more living languages than the US, which has 165 living languages. This is impressive to me, and since there is little to no chance of any of these languages taking over as the "official" language of the US, I think it is good to recognize our diversity by not having the government adopt an official language.

Eddie doesn't really care if English is official or not, just as long as he can stir up the status quo, That's what all these "internationalists" are about, destroying the legacy of industrialized cultures while leting the hoodlums of the third world destroy their prople and institutions at will.
Why is it? Need a shrink for that. They have a profound inferiority comlpex and attempt to always appear "cosmopolitan" and "wordly" as if day to day silliness does not affect them. (Hope your better at pickin out dental decay than you are at American history) I realize your perspective is based upon growing up in Mayberry but those who grew up in the 1800 and 1900's in cities such as New York, Chicago, San Francisco had neighborhoods which had bi-lingual signage, spoke multiple languages, had multiple language street signs etc. All at local government expense.
You see pumpkin, nowadays, we live in a society that communicates globally. Back then, many people were born, lived and died in the same neighborhood. Yet they did not take the great steps to assimilate that you claim they did. Anyway no more than those do today.
