A lot of people are bringing up this business about teams playing in their third or fourth st road game and maybe this is why the Steelers and/or Panthers are going to lose this week...I can't buy it....the SB is on the line these guys are going to give it all they have......they haven't been playing since last August just to get tired now that they are one game away.......with that in mind lets look at a little history of this trend and see if it scares us off

first of all all teams on their 3rd or more road game since 1985 playoffs included are 54-104 su for .342 not very good but against the spread they improve a little bit to 69-87-2 for .442
if we look at just the road dogs in this situation they are 35-83 su for .297 and ATS they are 52-65-1 for .444 these games included some of the worst teams in the nfl

now lets look at Carolina and Pittsburgh and see how they have done

Carolina has played five games in this situation and they are 2-3 su but 4-1 ats however one game was as a fave at St Louis in 1997.......as a dog they are 1-3 su but 3-1 ats and have covered their last three.......their last one was last week at Chicago and the one before that was when they played the patriots in the super bowl on 2-01-04 they were getting 7 and lost by 3 29 to 32

Pittsburgh in this situation is 3-3 su and 3-2-1 ats
as a dog Pitt is 1-1 su and 2-0 ats interestingly one of these games was in Denver in the playoffs
on 1 07 90 Pitt played at Den in their 3d st road game and covered at +10.5 23-24

I'm not gonna let that third st road game bullshit bother me......this is the Super Bowl we're going for boys......get tired next week

outside of the homefield deal - i will have to take the points this week or not bet. the teams are very even right now.imo there is no clear-cut dominate squad. if you think your dog can win - why not take the points.
