SAN JOSE -185 over Phoenix 370/200

I see a mismatch every way I look at this game and series. Sharks are a legit contender for the Cup while Phoenix should consider themselves fortunate to be in. Sharks have three lines that score, a suffocating defense when protecting a lead and a top shelf goaltender in Nabokov. Sharks have beaten Phoenix cleanly the last two times they met in San Jose and in a game this huge I expect a similar result.

CAROLINA (best of 7) +220 over New Jersey 300/660

Carolina has been one of the top teams in the league since the Olympic break. They have two lines that score consistently, which is a must for the playoffs. They have a goalie that has won playoff series before. They also have a chip on their shoulder after the way Stevens gave a huge hit in last year's first round series after the third game had been decided. Devils have been an up and down team all year and with the way Carolina has played over the last month and a half, they should take care of the Devils in strong fashion.

I think we are the only two individuals who post at Mad Jacks who like the CANES to beat the DEVILS in the first round. I am considering a play on the CANES tonight. Should be fired up, at home and may catch the Devils on their heels tonight with their guard down.

Make it 3 as far as liking the Canes to win in the 1st round. I didn't put it in immediately as I was hoping a ton of Devil backers would raise the price on the Canes but I will be playing them.

I am with you guys on the canes as well, both tonight and for the series. I went to about 5 games in the last month or so and have tix for games 1 tonight and 5 next Wednesday. They look real good and are really hungry, also payback for the stevens hit in addition. Only thing that isn't too good for the Canes is that Brodeur is in peak form, but I think they will get it done. Too many people brush them aside, they are better than most think.
