Been doing very well picking winners but pathetic on totals so I will lay off them today. Sunday's have always seemed to be good dog days in the past so we'll see if that trend continues today. I know many people will be all over the Cubs -210 and the Braves +110 today simply because they think neither will get swept ... but sweeps do happen so that is not a solid reason to play a game.

Back soon with today's selections?

Mets -120 ... 3* ... In this game, I think we are getting great odds on the Mets with "ace" or at least #1 starter Leiter going against the Braves #5 guy for that particular reason.

Expos -110 ... 5* ... Vasquez who I really like facing washed up Joey Hamilton and the over-rated Reds. I think by tomorrow this line will have changed with the Expos favored and I agree 100%.

Astros -130 ... 3* ... Wade Miller got ripped in the opener but I think he will come back strong today vs. the Cards.

Twins -131 ... ... 2* ... Always liked P Brad Radke but I am hoping the price comes down before I make a decision. Twins will never lose due to lack of effort or fundamental baseball.

A's +117 ... 3* ... Tim Hudson, a stud pitcher, vs. Jamie Moyer, a crafty veteran who overachieved and won 20 last year. Not this year Mr . Moyer. I am all over Hudson and the A's although both teams are quite good.

Good Luck!

Thoughts on the Week 1

Thoughts on the Week 1

Dogs have been winning at an astounding pace so far. I have them at 36-36 s/u going into today. Over the course of a season, dogs will normally win about 39% to 41% of the MLB games. So far, dogs have been a nice money maker but that will cool off. Over/unders have been impossible for me to cap. While there have been many high scoring games and offense in general is up the past few years ... there have also been about 10 shutouts recorded already this year. Not sure what to make of all this yet but I will think long and hard before playing any more totals at the moment. Anyway, just some thoughts as week one comes to a close. Any additional comments, thoughts or observations would be greatly appreciated.

Adding:

Adding:

Padres +150 ... 2* ... considered this earlier and I decided to pull the trigger finally. I know Tollberg was horrible in his first start earlier this week but he is not a bad pitcher at all and Livan and the Giants need to get that first lose sometime. Hopefully, it's today.

PS ... Bonds is not in the starting lineup either.

GL!

Tough day today ... Mets blew a 2-1 lead late and lose in 14 innings ... Expos actually comeback late and take a 5-4 lead on the Reds and then blow the game and lose in 10 innings. The Astros however came back and won in 12 innings. Being a Phillies fan ... I sat here and watched them win 3-2 on Burrells walk off homer in extra innings.

Anyway ... hoping to get the A's tonight to make the day a bit better. The Expos really hurt cause I played them for 5* and I was thrilled to see them comeback when I had pretty much written the game off as a loss.
