any thoughts on wazzou at ucla? my initial thoughts were that the line is a point or two too high, looking for wazzou action. but usc was favored by 2 over the cougs the other night, so it is probably a legit line.
ucla is obviously more suited to playing against washington state, as a halfcourt game won't bother them at all. they have 2 guys who are distributing the ball, in collison and westbrook (is there ANYTHING brian westbrook can't do? he makes donovan mcnabb look good and still has time to dish out 5.4 assists per game. OH, sorry, this is russell westbrook. completely different guy). anyways... unlike usc, ucla will have no probably taking their time and finding open shots.
on the flip side, i really like what washington state has done the last few years. bennett has a lot of guys who know their role and play unselfish basketball. and almost every game between these two teams has been lowscoring and close the last few years, with both teams usually in the 50's.
definitely leaning towards taking the points. any thoughts are welcome.

altgator, i'm with you on both. both teams play a halfcourt game... should be a lot of intensity... unless both teams go to the free throw line a lot this game should be in the 50s.

Completely agree with everything you said. I thought the line was a few points too high but I bit anyway. Still a long way to go, but they're getting absolutely drilled right now. I guess this is where we just have to throw out the obligatory "Vegas didn't build all those casinos by handing out free money" line, eh? :142smilie

Everyone talks about Wassau's half court game, but lets give UCLA some credit. Not many teams can lock you down, take you totally out your game and make you look downright awful on the offensive as UCLA can when they playing at the top of their game.

Its obvious that Wassau has their attention today. After watching the first 12 minutes of the game, i would be surprised if the Cougars get back into it. I mean, they wont quit, but I dont think UCLA will give up this lead. They look intent on making a statement today.

Great points. Two things almost kept me off the game today...

1) The line. -7 was a very fishy line. Thought UCLA would be about -5.
2) UCLA plays the same style as Wazzu.

The reason Wazzu did so well against SC is because SC didn't play much D. They pretty much gave them wide open looks from the outside, and Wazzu will hit those. UCLA on the other hand, makes you work for every point.

I've already chalked this one up as a loser to be honest with you. Wazzu needing to make up 10 points or more is an impossible task considering they don't have much offense.

GL...

You're tellin' me. I quit watching because it was such a blowout but as I'm flipping channels I see that it's 75-71 with :22 left! :scared Even after fouling a couple of times and giving up the 4 FTs, they hit a 3 and were only down 5 with, what, 5 seconds to go? What on earth is UCLA doing shooting the ball up 5 with a few ticks left??? The crappy thing is that it was one of my biggest plays of the day. I realize Wazzu shouldn't have even been around to have a chance at the cover so I can't be too pissed, but that was awful.

i know what you mean about the fact that they were getting their asses kicked all game, but i've been on the losing end of plenty of backdoor covers like that where suddenly the team that was losing all game cannot miss a 3 and it'd be nice to be on the winning end of one or two once in a while.

i know it... 9 out of 10 times, when they get that last rebound, they just dribble out the clock. i think it was just sh!tty luck that the rebound caromed towards ucla's basket, so the guy was already headed in that direction when he got the ball. it wasn't a large play for me, but i'm still sick about it. if ucla had missed just one of those damn free throws...

alright, f--- it, time to let it go. just one of thousands of sh!tty losses i've had.

No, I hear ya. It would be nice to be on the right side of one of those for once. And you're right, the fact that they couldn't miss a FT down the stretch was almost as bad as the layup at the end. Shitty luck.

Oh well. Good luck with your other plays.
