Awful start to the day don't you think? Staying home the rest of the day. Gonna break down some games for tonight and this weekend.

Anybody have all 4 at one time? Dr. said no alcoholic beverages for 24 hours. Was planning on staying numb all day and night. :(

Time to change out the gauze.

Nole man I am feeling for you. Back in 92 before I went to school I had 4 bone impacted wisdom teeth taken out at once. Just brutal. Stay medicated man it is the only way! If they tell you every 4 hours, make it 3.5 so during that last half hour it starts to creep on you. God it was the worst pain imaginable I know what you are feeling. Shit. I developed dry sockets in two of the recesses and had to have a second surgery. I will spare you the gore for now but let me tell you, I will say a prayer that doesnt happen to you!

been there, done that, but didn't have a bad experience with it. The oral surgeon rocked! Probably no alcohol because of the interaction with the pain pills he prescribed you? That's what I'm guessing, but I could be wrong. Alc would probably sting the holes in your gums too.

about the gauze, I didn't even know I had gauze in my mouth for 4 hours when I tried to eat some soup for lunch, lol! My mouth was so numb I couldn't feel the gauze, and if they told me to check it periodically, I didn't remember.

I've heard someone mention those "dry sockets". Funny my Dr. never mentioned that they may arise.

Numbness is starting to wear off. Hope this Hydrocodone works it's magic.

Thanks acehi. Prayers accepted. :)

I hear ya bud, as I had my four pulled out 8 months ago. The two upper wisdom teeth gave the doc a hard time, so you could imagine how swollen my face was. After 2-3 days you should start feeling better

Just remember to gargle warm water with salt every 30 minutes to slow down the bleeding and to prevent any infection. Also, go light with your meals for the next day ot two (soup preferred)

Hope you get well soon!

Sixfive, you were seriuosly numb! LOL. I was concerned that I was so numb I was gonna swallow the gauze.

Campbell's Chicken Soup for lunch I guess?

Thanks for responding 6-5

Damn Dr. S, you must have had the same post-op sheet I have now. Gargle as often as I like with warm salt water but starting tomorrow.

Plenty of soup lined up.

Thanks Dr. S(the King of Mojo!)

I had mine extracted a few years back. My face too swelled up so bad. It even bruised. I was fine after the first day. My face stayed swollen for a few days but it didn't hurt so bad (after the first). I didn't even continue the pain medicine after the first 12 hours because it made me sick to my stomache.

Best of luck and hope you get well soon!!!!!!

Yes Helen, I was reading some of the possible side effects and I'm like, "what the Hell am I takin' here". Nausea, vomiting(same thing isn't it?), constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, vision changes, mood swings(Hmmmm, think I figured out what my wife's been taking :) ) Hopefully I won't experience any of this.

Man, left side upper is starting to throb a bit. Here we go.

Thanks Helen.

Had mine removed several years ago. I only had 3 wisdom teeth? Does that mean I'm not as smart? lol

Anyway...Things were going great several days after the surgery. Then one night I woke up about 3 am in the morning. When I lifted up my head the whole side of my face was soaked. I thought to myself - "My God! I have never drooled this much before!" So I turned on the light only to find out my head was laying in a pool of my own blood! Some of the stitches had broken loose in the back of my mouth and it was gushing blood. I spent the next 3 hours hovering over the bathroom sink biting gauze before I finally got the bleeding to stop! Hope that doesn't happen to you, my friend!

My Dr. said he fractured my left lower tooth while trying to extract. Said he was gonna have to lay the gum back a bit so he could get to the tooth(via scalpel). I can't get that area to quit bleeding. I've gone through 2 boxes of gauze now. I got this big ass hole in my gum and I'm jammin' the gauze down in there but it's still bleeding. The other 3 feel great and I have no bleeding(honestly, I can't even tell a tooth was removed, good drugs I guess).

Any suggestions? I'm gonna go to Walgreens and buy another box of gauze.

Stuman, I asked about stitches and he said I wouldn't need any. Beginning to think he should have given me a couple for this bad spot.

Ddubs. Good luck on your trip. The drugs defintiely will help.

most of the time the dissolving type stitches are used, and that's what I had too. You might need an antibiotic.

My Dr. just called. Of course I wasn't listening this AM. He told me to apply gauze for another hour and that should do it. Everytime I've removed the gauze, I've basically triggered it to start bleeding again. I've since stopped with the gauze and it's already stopped bleeding.

What a dumbass!

I did it 2 years ago. The most pain ever! Not when you get the teeth removed but when the pain meds wear off. Make sure you have plenty of meds. Take double of what was prescribed and rest for a couple days.

It is worth it in the long run. I haven't had any problems since.

Thanks stomie. Drugs are working. Curious to see what kind of pain I'll be in when I wake up after a night of no medication. Might set my alarm for 3AM just so I stay medicated.

Thanks.
