Movie basically ended after his rookie regular season with home run against the Pirates to win the pennant for the Dodgers. Oddly enough his home run as a visiting player appeared to have ended the game.

Uh niether of those links have anything to do with Jackie as portrayed in the movie as a youngster. You cant find something more relevant.

The point is they made up a Jackie Robinson for the movie instead of portraying him as he was. The guy went through hell, but they are telling the story of who they want Jackie to be, not who he was.

Did you view the movie? They tried to depict some of the appalling situations he had to go through even though I am sure could have been worse. Do you think his behavior was different from the real 42.

I don't think 2 hours is enough time to tell the whole Jackie Robinson story. Like all "movies" they exaggerated parts and didn't show some which would put Jackie Robinson in a "bad light" due to today's perception of race. Very few people alive today remember or want to remember how bad it was in the 1940's. Throw in the present perception of some blacks (ie P Diddy) and it's hard to answer the question "Is that the way it really was? or was it "Hollywoodized"?

EXAMPLE: Very unlikely Ben Chapman the Phillie manager was the ONLY person on the Philadelphia bench hurling out racial slurs.
