Here is my scientific thoughts on the matter.

Use your own fucking instinct about dogs, any breed. Some are nasty fuckers, some are very nice, doesnt matter the breed.

I lived next door to a guy who owned a 70 lb Doberman Pinscher and 2 Shitzus. The Doberman was the nicest out of the bunch and I would trust my little kids with it. The little shitzus by themselves ok, but with the Doberman around little fuckers, little nippers, not mauling anyone also a big difference, but again my own instinct prevailed.

After just spending the last 10 minutes watching Pit Bull attacks, I think the main problem here is that once they go apeshit they are nearly impossible to stop. Fuck some scary shit out there on video.

Good point. Locked and loaded.

What dogs and when should I shoot?

If they are approaching and may sniff my hand or should I wait for an actual bite?

How about the ones that shit on my lawn and the owner doesnt pick it up? (Analogy to Motorcycle thread) Should I shoot just the dog or the owner or both? Dont break the law or my code of conduct on my watch.

I consider whatshisnuts, sixfive, and many others my friends. I can't help the way I am and I'm too old to change it now.

We are, and will continue to be friends. I have a sore spot for this issue, the same way I do for religion, guns, and Republican talking points. You're on the other side of this one and that's fine. No changing my mind on this one and there's no changing yours. Is what it is.

Exactly my feelings on it as well. Cheers!

Where it is real F ing COLD
Ok thanks, I have told parts of this story before and I will tell it now. Grew up in the country next to my grandparents, they always had 4-5 dogs, my grandpa adored them and never abused or struck at a dog. They had one dog, I would have to go ask my mom but this dog was a mutt it had the looks of a pit mix. This dog became a bit of an asshole, a little aggressive but never a biter but intimidating as I remember it. This story takes place 37 years ago, I 5 and my sis 10. We were outside yelling for my dad as he was target practicing back in the woods with his bow and this dog attacked by sister and tore her face apart, it came very close to her jugular, one of the other dogs which was much like the one who attacked her attacked the dog and got it off of her. The main thing I remember is my sisters face being nothing but blood, I mean she looked like something in a Halloween movie. Over time she had many plastic surgeries and still has some small scarring, those on my fb can see pics of her as it is really unnoticeable. Had that been me I would probably not be here. I do have some resentment towards my grandparents for not seeing that the dog should have never been around children. Anyway it took my sister a long time to get over the phobia being around dogs and own 3 yippers herself. I don't know what set the dog off or made the dog the way it is but unless I've handled the dog I don't trust any of them, have had too many people tell me their dog is harmless only to find out that fucker is aggressive and showing dominance. Never take a person's word on it, hell my little white dog has been known to bite a hand and he's the most loving dog I know but when put into a situation he will bite.
