Remember hearing that, all those freeloaders who pay zero tax?

It a load of BS, of course.

They never include sales taxes, property taxes, gas taxes, state taxes, local taxes, tobacco taxes, liquor taxes,environmental taxes.

In fact the average Joe, making, say $50K pays a higher percentage of his income in taxes than Tit Rumney. The average family pays about 31% of their income in taxes of one kind or another.

Rumney pays 14% in Fed tax. What he pays in sales, gas and property can't possibly be more than another 1%. Given his unearned income, his state tax can't be more than another 1%. That makes 16%, tops, for Tit.

I think we need to look at increasing federal and in some places, state income taxes and REDUCING or eliminating the majority of others - making sure there is a tax bracket for all incomes.

US will NEVER pay down the deficit unless there is a combination of spending cuts as well as tax increases.

Remember the 1950s? It was a time of rapid economic growth and we paid down the huge WWII debt.

Tax the rich? Under Ike the top marginal rate was 90%. The rich got richer anyway. And the middle class got richer too..

So much for "trickle-down".
