I MUST CONFESS THAT I GOT THIS INFO SECOND HAND FROM A RADIO SHOW, so tread lightly.

Cubs have not been swept in a 3 or 4 game series the last 58 that apply.

I'll bet them tonight and if the lose I'll double up tommorrow.

GL

P.S. I didn't have the time to verify the info, so play as your wish.

They were swept at home by LA in April of 2002. I don't know how many series they have played since but they haven't lost 3 i a row this year. Good luck

Just checked 2003 & it's true-no sweeps in series that were 3 or 4 games. The only thing you would have to be careful of is weather. I.E. Cubs lose games 1 & 2 & then have 3 rained out. If you played game 2 for a unit, you would not have a game 3 to double down on. I'm all over this one-thanks for the info. Now, I'm going to check & see what other teams it applies to.

FYI-last year the Cubs played 47 3 or 4 game series. There have been 9 so far this year. So the streak is at least 56. Don't know where to go to check 2002 w/out doing a lot of work.

As far as the dodgers sweeping the cubs, its possible, and id like to think it will happen but probably wont. As for gcs69, I wouldn't worry about the weather in LA. I have a better chance of winning the lottery than having one of their games wiped out due to rain.

Double up. Boy the dogers looked good Ln.

Zambrano has been very good this year w/an ERA of 3.10, is 2-0 in day gms. Nono is 1-3 last 3 w/an era of 5.29 w/12 hr allowed.

I know going against LA's winning streak is the kiss of death, but it's hard to argue 58-0.

Being a Cubs fan, I follow the team very closely. Zambrano goes tomorrow, he's pitching great, but the Dodgers are playing far and away the best ball in the N.L. The streak is at 58 straight, however, how many times have the Cubs been down 3-0 on the road? That'd be an interesting figure to know. Also, the way the Cubs are swinging the bats, backing a 130 fav on the road to the current best team in the league doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Also, I don't have time to look it up, but I don't believe the Cubs have had much success against Nomo in the past. Tread lightly gents, but I'll certainly be rootin' for ya.

Willy,
Actually, the Cubs have done ok vs. Nomo. For his career, Nomo is 5-5 with a 5.01 ERA vs. the Cubbies. But to me, that doesn't really matter. 3 of those 5 were in 1999 & 1 was in 2000 (the 5th was last year). IMO, what matters is recent performance. Like Janet Jackson asked "What have you done for me lately?" Let's take a closer look, shall we?...

Nomo has made 7 starts this year & LA is 4-3 in those games. He has given up at least 1 HR in each & gave up 2 HR's twice & 3 HR's once. His ERA over the 7 we already know is 6.00. His ERA during the day is 9.00. Maybe the sun bothers his squinty eyes. He's also 0-2 in day games.

As for Zambrano, he has made 6 starts this year & the Cubs are 4-2 in those games. He has made only 1 bad start vs Ari when he gave up 7 earned. In his other 5 starts he has only given up 3 earned runs (3 games with 1 earned run in each & 2 games with 0 earned). His last 2 starts were the ones with 0 earned. His record during the day this year is 2-0 with a 0.41 ERA.

Hope this info helps. For what it's worth I'm all over the Cubs...

cant argue with that number

cant argue with that number

figured then to add, that i saw info on NOMO of not having pitched a game this year WITHOUT allowing a home run. -not a 100% on that if anyone wants to lookit up. so then if so, should figure well into likes of home run hitting sosa and a. ramirez and to lesser extent--though seems always in clutch, m. alou. i think the OVER 7 total might be worth a look if someone out there thinks LA is bound to play well even VS likes of ZAMBRANO, but still so find CUBS winning (like me). great info and follow ups. GL guys.

Bump. No way the cubbies get swept by the pirates even without sammy. Same pit as last time this situation presented itself.

I'll bite @ 1.65(ouch)

Seems very similar to the last scenario.....but bucs have first time starter, Burnett today, don't know what they are going to get....

last 10 games are 9-0-1 with the over, i think that is the safer play.......over 9 1/2
