5Dimes Screwed me!!!!

I have always been a big supporter of 5Dimes, but they screwed me last night......

I had a matchup on the NASCAR Busch race last night....Jason Leffler over Kasey Kahne. Leffler finished 2nd in the race after he spun out Waltrip and took the lead, and he then ran hgh to keep Dale Jr. from taking the lead and Junior ran into the wall.

NASCAR docked Leffler 11 positions moving him back to 13th and losing the Kahne as a result. 5Dimes graded the bet a win, and reversed it this morning.

Here is the problem......last year a similar thing happened to Kevin Harvick...he was docked 10 positions. 5Dimes went with the original finishing position. I got screwed on that too.

So my problem is not with how they graded it.....it is with the inconsistancy. If you grade it one way, you have to continue to grade it the same way.

Just the way it goes.....but I wont be putting any more money in just based on principle.

Right off the bat I thought you were out of line, but since you said they graded it both ways in two different events I would probably be pissed as well. Did you try contacting Jack about this first though, he has some pull with the advertisers.

Since you've been the victim in both sides of this kind of situation -- I would try to look into this further. While I don't want to accuse them being crooked, but is there any chance that they grade all wagers as losers on a prop when this comes up and make out like bandits.

What does 5dimes rulebook say about a situation like this? Is it even addressed?

I've never made a Nascar bet in my life, but do have an account with 5Dimes and have never had a complaint. I'd be curious to hear the outcome of this.

The winner of an event or game will be determined on the date of the event or game's conclusion according to house rules. 5Dimes does not recognize suspended games, protests, overturned decisions, etc. for wagering purposes.

If it the change in position happened the night of the race, then I think they are justified in doing so. It's like a horse race where there is an inquiry and the stewards change the final result. But I can see your frustration in the inconsistency in grading. I would mention that Harvick thing to them, esp. if you were on the wrong end of a wager there as well. Keep us informed.

Yea, you are right Beanclown......they didnt have time for my 100 dollar bet....and that is why I am taking my business elsewhere. And yea you are right betting on a "sport" where they make rules up as they go is pretty ridiculous......But when your sportsbook makes up rules as they go, there is a problem.

Shortly after a race ends, requests come in for auto-racing matchups to be graded immediately. We do our best to grade all auto racing events in a timely matter. Usually these grades are done while the results available are still listed as un-official. Since problems have surfaced with this quick grading, all events will remain ungraded until the results are listed as official on the race circuit's website. Re-grades to correct changes from the un-official results to the official results cause multiple problems which will now be avoided.
It is my understanding that the Kevin Harvick issue last year was a change/amendment in the finishing positions after the official results were released. This change in finishing order after the official race order was graded would not apply for wagering purposes. "5Dimes does not recognize suspended games, protests, overturned decisions, etc. for wagering purposes."

Tony: While I respect your decision, I can firmly say now that I definatly cannot return to 5Dimes Sportsbook!!! For two reasons...... #1 You will be the only sportsbook in the industry that waits until Monday morning to grade NASCAR bets (which is when they become official) I personally do not want to wait that long to get my money. Secondly.....check your facts on the Kevin Harvick matchup last year......The same EXACT thing happened to him last year when he spun out Matt Kenseth at Infineon Raceway....we was penalized 10 positions just after the race completed. I lost both sides of the coin in both situations......

I understand that the "official" results are what NASCAR uses to points in their league, however, what is the difference between this situation and some college team having to forfeit its games from a previous year by using an illegible player? The college team did OFFICIALLY lose the game, but I obviously wouldnt expect you to go back and refund games from years ago. The results at the time of the game or match are what you have to grade by, because you dont know what rulings/penalties are going to be levied in the future......

I am sure you can make a case either way........that is my opinion, and I am sure it doesnt matter much. But I am saying that grading NASCAR plays on Monday when they become official isnt going to make customers any happier......I would have left the sportsbook on that decision alone! But now that on top of a bet that I feel I got screwed on........I gotta take my business elsewhere

Thank you beantownjim. Lack of clearly defined grading rules is the cause of this dispute. After reviewing numerous offshore sites for rules on when auto racing results are official for grading purposes, I've found that very few sites even have any rules regarding auto racing grading. 5Dimes has revised its wagering rules to make them as close to the industry standard as possible. Since this industry standard is more than a little hazy, if anyone feels we have missed any key rules, please post or contact us with your suggestions. We'd like to have every race graded with a fair set of rules that 5Dimes and its customers can agree are fair and accurate. The revised rules are listed at the bottom of this post.

After re-reviewing the facts presented, I have decided to let you choose which wagering option (the Harvick wager from last year or the wager from this past weekend) which you would like to have regraded. This will apply in your account only. We will do an adjustment in your account to reflect the change in grade after you notify the 5Dimes customer service staff which grade you would like changed in your account.
