One early play so far. Good luck all.

Tampa Bay +215 over SAN FRANCISCO 500/1075

Interesting article in the Contra Costa Times today about a general malaise hanging over the Giants' ballclub these days. It talks about how for the first time in the new ballpark fans are dissatisfied with the team and how expectations have not been met this year. Check it out at http://www.bayarea.com

In this particular game I like Tampa largely based on Sturtze and the recent performance of the Devil Rays' lineup compared to the Tampa lineup. Ortiz really looked wobbly last time out against Oakland and with Sturtze searching for his first win while throwing as well as he ever has, this is a great spot for the Devil Rays.

Two more for tonight. Good luck.

PITTSBURGH +160 over Oakland 500/800

Hudson has looked strong recently but Benson looked equally strong in his last start before it was cut short due to rain. Pirates have played the A's tight in both games and I expect them to avoid the sweep today.

Detroit +210 over ATLANTA 500/1050

Maddux has showed definite weakness in his last two starts, though he did pick up the win last time out. Detroit has had the more potent offense as of late as the Braves' hitters have come back to earth after going on a hot streak earlier this month. Bernero is a solid guy who generally gives six strong innings so with Maddux' weakness and a better hitting lineup the Tigers should take this series tonight.

p.s. Bandit, don't take this the wrong way, but please try to avoid posting comments about a game that is in progress in my threads. I know I am a bit superstitious but I just can think back to too many instances of people making celebratory posts before a game is over and the play ending up losing.

superstition

superstition

Does the opposite help?

Tampa sucks!!!!!

(Wished I had seen this earlier......6 runs of mojo for 1 inning may be asking a bit much)

:) I haven't a clue but I just try to avoid posting anything at all about a game while it is in play.

The worst one I can remember personally is when I had the Hornets on a +240 moneyline in the NBA and they had a 20+ point halftime lead and people were already congratulating me. Went from a +1080 profit to a 500 loss pretty quick. Obviously those posts had no actual bearing on the Hornets collapsing but it did steam me a bit to check back after the game and read congratulations on a game that put a decent hit on my bankroll.

I've learned the hard way. Valuist had been hitting his college basketball totals with deadly accuracy one Saturday.....his last call was a Mountain West game where the total was like 140u. The two teams had a combined total of less than 50 at half. I rolled out every congratulatory word and phrase I could think of....after all, it was a done deal, right?

You know what happened. I think the total actually went over fairly easily too. Unbelievable. Didn't have the guts to logon for a couple of days.
