they should give the lawyer a kick in the ass for even bringing this one into court and making the citizenry pay for the costs of this bullsht

maybe we should all sue car manufacturers when we get into a car and have a wreck because the corporate greed from these people are not giving us all Lexuses to drive around in and give us the best odds of not getting hurt

maybe i should sue my apartment complex for being in an area close to crime and my grill got stolen

where does it end you moronic lawyers???? are you trying to bring the whole country down?????

OK, I admit it. I have used Ephedra. As a matter of fact I have an Ephedra product in my desk drawer as I write this.

If used properly it is safe. Anything is unsafe is used incorrectly. Toothpaste is harmful if you eat the entire tube, one can overdose and die on NyQuil, but neither has a lawsuit pending (to my knowledge).

I am sorry guys lost their lives. My heart and prayers go out to their families.

Their deaths came due to an overdose of drugs not from a company?s irresponsibility.

Blazer - agree with you 100%. Unless this guy and the Viking player couldn't read, they were negligent, not the product. Of course, if the team trainers suggested doubling or tripling the suggested doses, that is another story. But I doubt that is the case. This is human error.

...now freeze, I would never lump you into a general category with...oh, i don't know...the doctor that used part of a screwdriver in a patient's spinal cord because he didn't have the necessary equipment.

...so, please try to refrain from disparaging the practioners of the profession of law because all lawyers are not evil, just as all doctors are not evil, nor all policemen, social workers, plumbers, electricians, bus drivers, etc.

...but feel free to keep harping on the evils performed by the insurance companies in this country. this is one point on which i can readily agree with you. insurance companies are the devil incarnate. :D

i didn't lump all lawyers into the same category....

there are however WAY too many of these morons....and NOTHING is being done about it by the legal profession

these people should be disbarred for bringing such a frivolous suit to court

why is nothing being done????

btw/ the guy who used a screwdriver did something heroic...i would be glad to be mentioned someday as doing something similar however i probably won't be in such a sitiuation

freeze,

...as to the doctor and the screwdriver, i was not referring to the one that i posted in south america, (i agree that was rather heroic, not to mention ingenious) i was talking about the guy in either cali or hawaii.... i'll try to find the article, but the patient died as a result.

...like i said, there are "not-so-ethical" folks in every profession. ;)

edit: here is the article to which i was referring. Bad Doctor

i agree there are bad ones but the doctors we take away their licences

lawyers never get disbarred for corrupting the legal system.....this is a ridiculous lawsuit and there is no way any sane person with an IQ over 110 would disagree

...dude, did you not read the article about the doctor?

"Ricketson had already had his medical license suspended in Oklahoma and revoked in Texas. His license was under review in Hawaii."

...and...

"He applied for a medical licence in Kansas last year, but later withdrew the application."

...let's don't talk about respective "licensing boards" ;)

...and although I tend to agree that it may be a "ridiculous lawsuit," how do we advance in the medical field? ...we "experiment," my friend. same thing here. how do you "test" the boundaries of law?

...and please don't say that we shouldn't "test" the boundaries of law, because if that never happened, we'd be living the inquisition, friend. :nono:

hawaii is a land of its own....notice in Texas Kansas and Oklahoma the guy didn't get a license

"pushing the boundaries of law" has nothing to do with how medicine is advancing....two totally different professions....one attempts to "do no harm" while the other tries to screw people lately and has thrown out the interest of justice

law has recently been reduced to who can outlawyer the other one and making people into victims while using the courts as a jackpot/lottery system

going after the cigarette companies -- like people don't know what is wrong with cigarettes; fast food companies -- as if people don't know that this food is fattening; ephedra -- as if people don't know that drugs can be harmful; etc. etc.

this opens the door for going after a furniture company for making things too comfortable so people dont exercise; candy bars; mexican food; virtually ANY drug including aspirin....and on it goes.....

why doesn't the legal profession put an end to this????? this stuff is singlehandedly bringing down our economy by creating mindless/needless jobs in business so that they don't get sued forcing the costs of doing business to an outlandish level....

is their no honor anymore?

although i tend to agree that a person should be accountable for his/her actions, it is the wife's right to file a lawsuit. and if she can find an attorney to represent her, who are we to question this right. we don't know the complete story & maybe as ferdville said the pitcher was under pressure to take these diet pills. i also don't believe that this attorney should be disbarred for taking this case.
we should wait until this case is played out before we start criticizing the merits of the case.
i'm sure nobody here believes that the wife would get the 600 mil., if she wins the case.
