Meet 'Giant George' the 7ft-long blue great dane who could be the world's tallest dog

Standing at nearly 43 inches tall from paw to shoulder and weighing a staggering 245lbs could this be the world's new tallest dog?

Pictured here in the parks of Tuscon, Arizona, George, a four-year-old blue great dane, looks more like a miniature horse than a dog.

'Giant George' and owner Dave Nasser share a couch together: The four-year-old blue great dane, weighs a staggering 245lbs and measures almost 43ins at the shoulder

The gentle giant, who measures 7ft 3ins from nose to tail, could be a prime contender to take the title from the former record holder, Gibson, a harlequin Great Dane who passed away from cancer last August.

Now George's owners, David and Christine Nasser, are awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records to see if he has achieved the lofty heights.

'He's 42.625 inches at the shoulder,' said David. 'He's very very unique.'

According to David, George consumes 110lbs of food every month, and sleeps alone in his own Queen Size Bed.

David and Christine raised George from when he was 7 weeks old, but never expected him to grow so big.

Magnificent: George measures more than 7ft from nose to tail and tucks away 110lbs of food every month.

With size comes problems: The giant great dane barely fits in the back of his owner's SUV

The couple eventually had to move their aptly named dog out of their king sized bed, when he grew too large for the three of them to share the same sheets.

Dr. William Wallace of the Buena Pet Clinic in Tucson, who witnessed the documentation necessary for the Guinness record, said: 'In my 45 years of experience working with giant breed dogs, without question, George is the tallest dog I have ever seen.'

David is currently rushing to get that necessary documentation into Guinness as other dog owners are coming forth claiming the record.

As they wait for the results to come through, George is busy occupying himself with his new found stardom and even has a Facebook fan page and Twitter accounts for his adorning fans.

It appears as though the sky's the limit for this mammoth hound.

Paws for thought: George's giant feet dwarf his owner Dave Nassar's hand. Last August the world?s tallest dog, Gibson, a harlequin Great Dane, passed away from cancer

Which Dane is Greater? Titan vs. George

When is the world?s tallest dog not the world?s tallest dog?
When there?s quite possibly a taller one, but that one?s owner doesn?t get the paperwork into Guinness World Records officials in time.
Titan, left, was crowned the world?s tallest dog Thursday by Guinness World Records officials. But Arizona Realtor Dave Nasser, who has been campaigning to get his dog George, right, named the world?s tallest, says his dog, by some measurements at least, is three-fourths of an inch higher.
After his dog was measured at 42 inches, Nasser got a second and third opinion on his dog?s height, which, respectively, showed George to be 42.625, or 43 inches tall at the shoulder.
Proving, I guess, that the top of the shoulder is in the eye of the beholder.
As a result of all the measurement seeking, Nasser didn?t get the application into Guinness in time to compete with Titan, who is owned by Diana Taylor of San Diego, and is 42.25 inches tall.
?It?s just bad timing. I can?t say anything bad about Guinness,? said Nasser. ?We sent the paperwork to them Tuesday and they got it Thursday. The winner had a plaque in hand Thursday. ? we were just late to the game.?
Nasser said he wasn?t aware of a deadline, or that Nov. 12 was Guinness World Record Day, Phil Villarreal reported in the Arizona Daily Star.
Nasser said he spoke on the phone Friday with a Guinness representative in London, who said the company was verifying George?s application and that there was no time frame as to when a decision will be made on whether George will displace Titan..
?Guinness World Records received a massive influx of claims after the death of Gibson (the previous world?s tallest dog) this year. The organization is familiar with George?s claim but is still assessing proper evidence before properly authenticating,? a Guinness spokesman told the Star on Friday ? Verifying record proposals is a meticulous process that is not done overnight. It could take months for the research team to make the decision. ?
Nasser says he has offered to bring George and Titan together to see which dog is bigger.

Last week we showed you Boomer, the Landseer Newfoundland whose owner hopes to have him proclaimed the world?s tallest dog by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Now, the owner of a Great Dane in Arizona has come forward and plans to give Boomer a run for his money.
Realtor Dave Nasser?s 4-year-old dog, George, stands 42 inches tall and weighs 245 pounds, the Associated Press reports.
Nasser and some friends plan to launch a public relations drive they hope will lead to tallest dog honors, talk shows and maybe even a movie deal.
A Guinness World Records spokesman says since the death last August of Gibson, a 42.2-inch-tall Great Dane, there is no confirmed world?s tallest dog.
After reading of a North Dakota woman?s effort to get her Newf proclaimed World?s Tallest Dog, Nasser and friends decided to launch their own effort as well.
Nasser is working through an application, which requires vital stats recorded by a vet, verification of the dog?s statistics by other witnesses, a video and a press conference. He and his friends are also planning a Facebook fan page for George.

Boomer the Newf to seek tallest dog title

How tall is Boomer?
Tall enough to drink from the kitchen faucet, while all four feet are on the ground.
Tall enough to look peer through a car window, and look down on the driver.
Boomer measures 3 feet tall at the shoulders and is 7 feet long from nose to tail.
His owner, Caryn Weber, of North Dakota, is seeking to have the 3-year-old Landseer Newfoundland listed in the Guinness World Records.
The previous record-holder for world?s tallest dog was a four-foot-tall harlequin Great Dane named Gibson, who died in August.
