Two for today and since it is close to 10, I will post them in here.

WHITE SOX +144 over Cleveland 500/720

Sabathia threw over 125 pitches last time out, and that is a ton of pitches for such a young guy. Glover will only give you 5-6 innings, but he is solid. Both bullpens are soft in middle relief and both have steady closers who are pitching well right now. The huge advantage here is in the lineups, where Chicago is white hot while Cleveland has been largely inconsistent over the past couple of weeks.

Colorado +145 over SAN FRANCISCO 500/725

Jennings is a very good looking rook and I expect another soli performance against a slumping Giants offense. Reuter should get touched up against a hot Colorado lineup. The Rockies pen is rested while Nen and Rodriguez are both most likely either unavailable or ineffective after overuse the last three days.

why is 125 pitches too many for a young arm...if it was cone I would understand??? but a young gun like sabathia..125 is not something he cant rebound from..my 2 cents.

Modern day baseball minds rarely go that far with young guys... that is the trend of today. Don't wear em out... it's simply the way they've conditioned the bodies and minds of young pitchers. Anything close to 100 is max. When one of these "young" guys do throw 120 or more, they usually experience a "dead arm" in their next start as their body is not used to the extra exertion.

I would doubt if SABATHIA is his normal dominant self today, although he was throwing 95 late in his last game. And if so, he won't be around for very long, maybe five to six innings at best. CLEV BP got used alot yesterday, so they won't offer up much in relief. I like the OVER here myself, as CWS bats are on fire, and as NICK mentioned, Grover will not go long either, and both pens got used alot yesterday, and niether one was very effective. WS did a better job, but they had a huge lead, so it was easy to just let it rip, and let em hit.

Pretty much what Randy said. If a guy has been in the league for a few years like Johnson, Clemens or Weaver, then 125 pitches is no problem. Sabathia hasn't thrown five days after throwing 125 in the past as much so I would be very surprised if he is sharp for more than 6 innings.

I agree with the high pitch count theory, but in this case I would be careful. I have watched Sabathia all year. The kid is a stud. He had over 125 pitches lat time out, but he also had 11 strikeouts in 6 innings. When the opposing team can't hit you, your pitch count tends to be high. I'm leaning toward Cleveland because Sabathia not only is tough but he is very laid back. He doesn't get upset on the mound when things go wrong. He has gotten himself out of jams all year. Not bad for a left handed 20 year old.

another consideration on the young pitchers is not just their recent pitch counts, but the number of innings they guy has to throw on the big league club. most of these young guys are very closely guarded as far as IP per year coming through the minors. they will be shut down or moved to the pen if they are approaching high IP totals, irrespective of their on field performance. so it's more a matter of high pitch counts totaling up over a higher number of innings that are thrown for the year.

Oh i know, he is great, just wondering how he aproaches the games, if he is just looking for upsets each day.

The Kid had one bad inning, in the 2nd. Other then that he had a pretty good game. For those of you who haven't ssem him, He should get some consideration for Rookie of the Year. Unlike Ichiro from Seattle, This is his first year of at a major league level.

Tito...totally agree with you. Sabathia is the real deal. I've listened to or watched every game he's pitched this year, and he seems to get more mature in his pitching every game. Has a good head on his shoulders and believe he is definately a star of the future. Just my 2 cents worth.

He just may be everything Bartolo Colon was supposed to be. If Bartolo could ever pitch to his potential, the Tribe could be a team everyone may be chasing. Wickman has secured fis role as a closer and Baez is starting ro come inot his own as a very good setup man.

When I handicap games i generally lean more towards the underdog but it varies. Right now I am on a pretty good run playing basically all dogs so I am looking at them first. I sometimes look more towards favorites if I go in a slump. When I do play favorites, I generally like to lay at least -160. I find that below -160 is usually a toss up so i may as well be playing the dog but at -160 and higher you can find some real mismatches.

As far as Sabathia, he absolutely had a good game tonight. Still, one game does not a season make and I would fade him coming off 125 pitches on four days rest every day and twice on Sunday, especially at +144 at Comiskey
