Chimay Brewery ("Bi?res de Chimay") is a beer brewery in Chimay, southern Hainaut, Belgium. The brewery is located in the Scourmont Abbey, a Trappist monastery, and is one of the seven breweries worldwide that produce Trappist beer.

My good friend Betone (Bee-Tone) (Bah'Tone) (Bay-Tonay) (Bet-one) bought me a bottle.

I would classify this beer as a must have. A beer with smooth taste and finish and just a little bite.

Lots of effversent properties and 10% alcohol.

I enjoyed this and think you would too. :0074

Be sure you get the same colored label as reviewed. Many people would be highly turned off by the white label (and potentially others).

A friend of mine used to own a bar here in town and used to get a bottle out on special occasions.

By far the best beer I have ever drank.:toast:

If you like Chimay then you should try:

Goose Island Pere Jacques

St. Bernardus ABT 12 (watch out this has a kick)

Victory Golden Monkey

Trappistes Rochefort 10

That brings back good memories of college. My friends actually managed to invent a whole culture that revolved around Chimay.

Have had the Rochefort 10 and enjoyed it, but did think it was a little overrated. The St. Bernardus I first tried in bottle....ridiculous. Recently had the St Bernardus ABT 12 on tap....if you enjoyed it in a bottle, holy smokes...on tap, incredible.

The hangover from this 10%er.....not enjoyable.

Totally agree, Had the St Bernardus initially in a high end restaurant in Old Town Alexandria, incredible is right. Wasn't near as good in a bottle but still enjoyable.
