It's nice to hang with your dad and watch any game you guys enjoy together. Me and my dad enjoyed watching hockey and soccer that was his favorite sports. We also loved fishing and hunting miss the old guy. Have a blessed Christmas and don't forget the good times. Thanks for sharing brother it put many tears in my eyes.

Lost my brother in November

Lost my brother in November

40 years old...different Holiday when all this shit happens...mortality sucks!!

I'm a quiet guy in general and dealing with my wife in her "holiday as normal" spirit just isn't matching up with my mood. Have 5 kids (3 high school and up and 2 with the 2nd wife at 4 and 5 years old). Putting my best face on, but inside I lost my best bud. Put the effort and time into your dad to do the things he wants...ask him to be selfish and tell you what he really wants...make it happen. My brother was sudden, so some regrets.

Happy Holidays!

Its tough dealing with a ill parent, it was last year at this time that my mom was diagnosed with Pandreatic Cancer. In Jan of this year she underwent a eleven hour surgery to remove the cancer and as of this date the cancer has not returned. She goes through many ups and downs and constantly worries that the cancer will return. Thanks for sharing and I wish the best for your father and your family.

Thanks for sharing your heartfelt story. This is what christmas and family are all about. Very touching to me who lost my grandfather on christmas day. Christmas has not been the same since, BUT, i do remember the man who i shared so much with and i know he wants me to be with my family and smile while i think of the great times we shared together fishing, baseball, and ice cream cones, my favorite! God bless you and make this a christmas the best one ever. ARROW:toast:

Incredible responses so far. Thank you. A copy of this thread will go to him tomorrow.

They say that the number of beers that you have had probably shouldn't reach the time of night, or there could be trouble. I'm staying in tonight so it's ok. The fifth beer is done by 5 PM.

:toast:

Thanks again.

FLA,

Wish I had my dad to enjoy X Mas with. Sounds like your family has things in perspective and will enjoy the holiday for all that it is. Thanks for posting and I'm sure there will be lots of MadJackers online tonight.

fla, sorry to hear about your Dad. The holidays are a time for joy and happiness and remembering. When a loved one is sick, it is not fun. Do the remembering part. Remember all the good times, the hanging out and fun stuff you did together. That is what I do. I am an only child fla, I lost my mother to a brain hemorrrage when I was 10. To me in my life, there is no greater pain I could suffer. I never got to enjoy her. God and I had alot of talks, with me doing all of the talking, and they probably weren't good from my end. I understood later that He wasn't to blame. My father died when i was 36. we wern't close after my mother died. We got closer the last maybe 7 years of his life. my 2 daughters were his pride and joy. They helped get me closer to him.

fla, just want to let you know how lucky you were to have alot of good times and memories with your father. Family moments and memories are the greatest gifts. Although we have never met, you and I go back at least 12 years at Gamblerstalk, and i consider you a good friend.

Enjoy everday you have left with you father fla.

Thank-you for sharing and reminding us who are lucky to still have our fathers around that it is the time spent with them that is the most important. Fla I hope tomorrow is a great day for you and your family.

FLA,

Thanks for sharing such a personal post. It just goes to show what this site is all about. Good people sharing good info and having each others backs. TO me, that is why I have been coming back the past 7 years or so, as this message forum really is a community.

I will send a prayer tonight for your family and here is to your pops making that trip out West!

God bless FLA!!:toast:

Your a class act!! :0054o
