It's the other half tonite.The Connecticutt Yankees vs the Tenn Volunteers.
Mark Twain many moons ago wrote a satire about a guy named Hank Morgan who time travelled back in time to King Arthur's court.Thank god for Cliff Notes so I could understand what Twain was really saying.
But its about a Yankee and how he dominated on the court.
Well one Yankee used his Merlins magic last nite and won.Tonite another Yankee will do the same.
UConn -5 over Tenn **
Tenn is lucky to be here tonite.They have won the last 3 games by a total of 6 pts.They have lost 7 of 8 to the Huskies and are 0-3 in title games to them and have lost 5 straight including this yrs 81-67.Tenn has no superstars. There is no Chamique's.They play solid defense.Ely their top scorer shot 1-11 the other nite vs LSU.
Summitt the "coach of the evil empire" has won 6 titles.She is the all time winninest coach.The John Wooden of the girls. But...
UConn has arrived the past several yrs.The "new kids on the block" have dominated.Geno Auriemma lyr said when he beat Tenn in the finals compared Pat about Philly steak places calling Summit "old and faded".The Evil empire,etc.
But this game tonite has nothing to do with the coaches dislikes.
Her name is Diani Taurasi and she is the best womans basketball ever to play.
She doesn't have the same talent around her but there has never been a female player that can create her own shot and make it.There have been better passers,dribblers,rebounders,etc.
UConn is the better team.There weakness could be the middle but vs Minny they dominated the paint.There seniors have won 17 str NCAA games and are 138-8 the past 4 yrs and are going for there 3rd straight title.
Taursi suits up for the last time tonight.Tenn doesn't have a way to stop her.And if they do she can pass the ball better,penetrate,and create better then anyone.
