A Conversation I had yesterday.. no shit.

I was talking with a former coworker at Dunkin Donuts today before he had to work. The conversation shifted to politics. Some of you may know my views lean to the left slightly, his to the right. Although he will either abstain from voting or vote Kerry. (I'm still working on him). We were talking about stem cell and I found out he is strongly prochoice and in favor of embrionic stem cell research. Apparently we were overheard by some right wing whackos next to us who spewed venom at us for letting anyone end life to save life and do research. I said:

I take it then you are against invitro fertilization for childless couples? I ask because I?m sure you are aware due to your obvious expertise on the subject, that a large number of fertilized eggs- ?life? as you would refer to it- are never implanted and are left to rot or die of old age in freezers....

No response..

Well actually that isn't entirely correct I suppose.
They don?t exactly rot or die of old age. Dick Cheney uses them to make soup.
Coworker spit out his coffee, the husband sneered and the wife said this is what happens if Bush loses.

I said yea I here Edwards is more of a Chicken Noodle guy.

What medical discoveries have been made using embryonic stem cell research so far? Thanks.

I am pro-life but don't consider eggs and sperm comingled in a test tube/freezer to be life.
