Sosa still hurting: Right fielder Sammy Sosa missed his sixth straight Cubs game Friday because of a sore back. He could be out a couple more days.
"I was feeling great yesterday," Sosa said of Thursday in Milwaukee. "I told the manager to put me in the lineup. In my mind I was OK, but my body was not. I got treatment. When I went to the cage and took my first swing, it hurt me bad. I went to the doctor yesterday, Dr. (Michael) Schafer, and he told me to take time and to go out there when I'm 100 percent. I don't want to go out there and play when I'm not 100 percent. I'm going wait until I'm healed."
Call-ups coming: Like all teams, the Cubs will be able to expand their rosters up to 40 players, beginning Sunday.
Expect first baseman Hee Seop Choi and catcher Mike Mahoney to come up from Class AAA Iowa. Left-handed pitcher Steve Smyth also should return.
"I'm probably going to make some final decisions Sunday, or after the weekend series here," said general manager Jim Hendry.
With catcher Joe Girardi's back bothering him, the Cubs may call Mahoney up Sunday and let the others finish Iowa's season Monday.
