I understand your intent Matt but who do you think Iran would rather have as a deterent next door--Saddams rag tag outfit or Uncle Sam-- I think having base in Iraq is stategical--and hope we have one there permanently.
However I think we can compromise and say best scenerio would have been for Iran/Iraq to go at and after the dust settled go in and try and fix things.

ouldn't it be facinating to know what all sides were planning right now--especially if Israel goes after syria or Iran.
Personally I'd like to see Israel and Iran go at it and everyone else stay outof it. Believe the little bearded fellow in Iran would lose some arrogance--and the Muslim world could see Allahs will 1st hand:)

The thing is, is that we're not going to be there forever having a presence in Iraq. When the Iraqi government asks us to leave, we will leave.

Of course, they won't ask us to leave until they (Shia government) are satisfied that we've built up their security forces to a satisfactory level to ensure that they can run the country in the heavy-handed way that Islamofascists do. We are working/spending/dying for the shias right now. That seems a little ironic.

I agree with your thoughts about Hezbollahs leader being on borrowed time and also about an Israel/Iran conflict.

I hope we are allowed to set up shop in backround simliar to kuwait.
I'm sure it will take many years for Iraq to develop defence against other countries.
Granted lots of unknowns Matt--the biggest as you stated previous is basically country of radicals going 3 diff directions--having averted a civil war (so far)with all that has gone on is glimmer of hope.
My view basically situation not near as good as admin projects nor near as bad as other side suggest.
