I have known James Biggs since he joined his first Bass fishing club before he was old enough to drive. Through the years James has risen through the ranks of amateur anglers. He recently won the World Series of Bass Series on ESPN and took second in the FLW National Championship. With these accomplishments, he has been invited to fish with the FLW Tour as a touring pro.
James is a Firefighter/EMT, father, husband, and great guy. Tournament costs to fish across the nation are upwards of $38000.00. All of his funds are from private donators and he has already raised 32K of the necessary funds. He needs some help. He is doing two separate things in an effort to secure the funds. First is that he basically sold shares of his success. He is selling 380 shares at $100 each. All of James' winnings (tournaments pay $10,000.00 for 50th place) will be split 380 ways and paid to the shareholders after each tournament until such a time as each investor has recovered their initial investment, after which he will pay 50% of his winnings to his investors throughout the season.

He is also willing to do a raffle for a guided trip to one of three great lakes in the area for some lucky winners. All tackle will be supplied. Raffle tickets would be $25 and the winner(s) will be able to arrange the date of the trip with James. He's a great guy to fish with and a very very good and accomplished angler. Nobody will be disappointed.

I would not normally do anything like this here unless I felt really strongly about it. This has been his dream since childhood and anyway I can help him achieve it, I will do.

Below are some links to his fan page. Check out the videos of him in action.

Thanks for taking the time to read the long ass post and any and all help would be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

Hope this helps,

He has some sponsors but truth be told most of them do not do cash sponsorship. He has a boat deal from Nitro but that is a discounted price not a free boat. Same with Mercury and such. Tackle sponsors generally only provide exactly that. It's the gas and entry fees ($5500.00-$7500.00 per tournament) that he needs the money for.

Success at this level will provide him with more opportunities for cash sponsors in the future but the rookie year is a tough road.

Feel free to contact him if you want brother, he will respond, but yeah, the first year is a difficult one financially. After all, it is a dream to do it and if everyone could we all would. I honestly think he will be very successful. The tournament trail is 6 or 7 tournaments and then the championship.

Right, there are several different levels you can fish in the FLW. BFL, etc... He is fishing the FLW Tour which is the one with 110 entrants and 7 tournaments. First place in any one of them I believe is like anywhere from $250K to $500K . You have to finish 50th or above to cash a check. 50th is 10K. You should be able to find his page on the FLW website and some videos of him in the National Championship last year and the World Series one too.

This has to be tongue in cheek and a take-off on the Teo story.

Good one...contributing so some random guy can fulfill his dream of going fishing. I guess you got the idea from others on this site gathering donations for people felled by disease or children who need help.

Perhaps James should catch some fish, sell them for dollars and then use those dollars to buy a tackle box and his "fishin gear." You can kick in the worms if you can buy those with food stamps.

I hope my advice is taken in the spirit, in which, it was given.
